Piazzetta - Toronto

Piazzetta now has three locations, and having tried all three, I think their number 3 on Yonge Street north of Eglinton is the winner in my book. The atmosphere is cozy, the exposed brick dotted with black and white photos of young Italian actors and actresses sets a mood of a casual neighborhood trattoria. We were warmly greeted even without a reservation, and seated at the table of our choice. The house wine is a very decent valpolicella. For appetizers, the grilled calamari and the minestrone soup are both delicious.The soup has lots of fresh and still discernable vegetables, and the calamari are perfectly seasoned with tomatoes, olives and capers. Generous portions of both go well with the house grilled crostini with rosemary and black olives that are offered at each table. We were delighted to find a wide selection of gluten free pasta along with usual varieties. The Paglia e Fieno ( straw and hay) with porcini mushrooms and tomatoes was amazing, and I think the best dish in the house, and the rice rigatoni was equally delicious done with a primavera sauce. The large veal chop with shrimp special was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Prices are very reasonable and we left feeling very satisfied with the service and the great food. This location is in a very busy part of town, well known for the young and eligible who dine the neighborhood, but the low key vibe and fresh food make this more like a favorite neighborhood go to place. I will be back often when I am wanting to be in a place that makes me feel welcome with simply great tratorria food.

Located in a bustling part of town known for its young and eligible diners, this Piazzetta location offers a low-key atmosphere and fresh, delicious food that make it a favorite neighborhood spot. I will definitely return when I crave welcoming and excellent trattoria cuisine.

The service at this restaurant was just okay, and the pizza was pretty average to below average. There were very few toppings on the pizza, you could even see strands of mozzarella and just a few other toppings.

Loved the place run by dad and sons Ciao Italia_For sure.

Nice cozy spot with some great pizzas! Had a beef salad which I wasn't crazy about but the pizzas are worth going back for.
