We were looking for breakfast in the new Corktown area near the river, and she suggested this delightfully modern and cosmopolitan spot. It looks to be run by an Asian couple and has a decidedly clean and post-post-modern Nordic aesthetic, with lots of light and concrete and wood accents. I had the breakfast burrito and she had a pastry, which, along with a couple of fresh strong coffees, was under $20—or about what you’d pay at McDonald’s these days for a couple of breakfasts and coffee, or at the Tim Horton’s across the street, but worlds apart. They also have some quality microbrews on tap for later in the day, plus wifi and plugins for your laptop. The washrooms are nice and clean as well, with a large communal sink. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
No drip coffee past 1pm???!!! Only options were americano or iced. What coffee shop worth their salt doesn't sell coffee after 1?? Anyway, i settled on ICED which led to the following exchange: Me: So what coffee do you use for the iced coffee? Barista: We use the drip coffee. Me: Well what's the drip coffee? Barista: It depends on the day, on Mondays we use...Me: Dude, what's my coffee option right now???Barista: oh, let me check...Wow. 2 stars for a working AC and interior design. But get a clue.
If you're mad for interior design, this place is for you - its gorgeous. You can pop in not only for coffee, but cocktails, craft beer AND good food options. I had a delicious (huge) ginger molasses cookie with my espresso. If you're looking for meal options, they have some good looking choices like empanadas and beef brisket sandwich, and some vegan options. When in Toronto for business, I stay nearby, so Odin is definitely going to be my new go-to cafe/bar. There is even a small patio for the summertime.
This is a very open restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. You place the order at a counter and then it is brought out to you. The menu is limited but there is something for everyone. Good sandwiches - again not a great choice.
This Nordic-inspired cafe is open and airy with seating both inside and out. The menu is limited but appealing. The service reminded me of Ausralian-style service i.e. pour your own water, pick up the menu and give your order at the counter. Staff does bring your order to the table. The chicken/bacon/white cheddar panini I had was excellent.
