Mong-Kut Thai - Toronto

Keep coming back here for the great Thai food. The restaurant is small but well worth the wait for a table.

I liked the rendang curry (red peanut curry) that I had here. It was clean, the staff were good, it was pretty much as expected. It wasn't too expensive.

We visited early on a Saturday evening and the service was excellent and the food superb. Green curry chicken was fabulous!

I have been to Thailand a few times and perhaps I am a bit spoiled as it would be hard to find a decent thai restaurant in Toronto. However there are a few that stood out but NOT this restaurant at all. I was shocked about the lack of fresh ingredients that would make you say...awww Thai food....so good. Instead each dish was either sloppy, dry or bland. My friend and I were encouraged to give this place a try based on their past positive reviews but as of now they don't deserve any praise,We ordered the King noodles (so dry and its presentation was awful), Green curry chicken (barely any chicken but so many bamboos as if they just dumped the whole processed bamboos from a can. It was very bland. The fried eggplants were ok but it needs some kick. Would we return? A big NO!

I think what we love most about this charming restaurant is the freshness of all the cooking, and the lovely service, Today it was the great value lunch specials. Veggie pad thai, and basil fried rice with chicken, both with excellent spring rolls, and soups - both the hot and sour, and lemon grass, were amazing. Tummies full. Wallets not raided.
