Take the ttc king lrt to john station. the lrt holds right in front of the restaurant. the hotel is located in the TIFF building on the second stage (first cinema level). we had an hour after the work to kill and before the movie. we started to get in for a drink and a starter. they enter the bar and lounge area. there is a formal sitting place in the left, but do not enter when they have no time. we sat at an elevated bar to keep the dinge fast. the staff is very friendly and immediately took care of us. we'll be there at 16 o'clock, later it'll be busy. this is a seafood place drinks are on special while magic hour really magic hours... to weeping drops of up to pro glass. we have glasses of pinot grigio and ordered the hamachi ceviche with ananas, chili pepper, limette and cilantro. served with tarot root veggie chips. nice to share. the ambiente is more casual in the lounge area. the complete menu looks great! we go back.

Taste of Iceland returned to Luma this year and so did we. Great food that you will not enjoy elsewhere without making the big trip to the little island. Fresh cod, arctic char, real skor and service. The themed cocktail this year was not the...best, but the dinner made up for that. The visiting chef visited table-side to welcome us and explain the dishes we were about to enjoy!
After seeing the three and half hour new Martin Scorsese film at TIFF, we talked happily across the floor to Luma, where our reservation awaited us. Luma is trending toward being a seafood place, and that is most welcome. We selected a somewhat offbeat white...wine from Oregon, which the server had tried, and seconded our choice. That's the kind of informed service there is at Luma and what one expects from O&B restaurants of which Luma is an excellent example. We selected Hamachi or yellowtail sashimi seviche and Big Eye tuna served sashimi style in an avocado salad. For mains, we ordered the whole sea bass, boned and served with an excellent green coconut curry sauce and large-is plates for fried rice. There were three of us and we all had our own serving, a good touch. The main course that was a revelation was the whole octopus, steamed and basted with Piri Piri sauce then roasted to tender perfection with capers, anchovy, tomato, olive and brown butter.. It was served with marble potatoes that were somewhat superfluous with the fried rice plates and excellent bread, so those went untouched. But the grilled broccolini on the plate was tasty and welcome. The server was excellent and helpful, friendly but not obtrusive and afterwards the manager as we left was quite concerned about our experience. TIFF and LUMA, what a combination!
