After attending a sporting event downtown, my friend and I ended up on Queen Street looking for a place to eat. From the outside, it's a very cute, intimate and inviting environment. Candles on the tables, open tables on Queen Street added to the allure. Sadly, these are the only positive points. Food and service were appalling. I go out alot and have been to many restaurants but it's not often I go out and leave a restaurant hungry. The charcuterie was a joke. My friend and I ordered the "large" and it consisted of a few slices of store bought salami, dry, tasteless pate and no cheese?! We also ordered a baked camembert appetizer which was equally disappointing. On top of terrible food, the service was non existent. The waiter would disappear as soon as we would ask him a question. We passed on dessert as we didn't want to chance feeling even more disappointed if that was even possible. This experience left me not only hungry but feeling cheated and ripped off.
We were looking for a late breakfast or early lunch and found this spot just up from a store we had been seeking. Both of us had the eggs Benedict: hers with House - cured bacon, mine with venison. Both were served up as quickly as expected, with a perfect amount of Hollandaise and other seasonings. The most outstanding ingredient was the poached eggs: properly cooked, whites well tamed. Something most restaurants don't do well.
Wifi funcionando! Isso é bom!
Quiet with an Eclectic French Flair We visited La Palette for a business dinner hosted by a local member of our group. He loves this restaurant and I understand why. Our French Canadian and Irish servers were friendly and very helpful. The menu has a fun, friendly eclectic French flair including an off-the-beaten-path and diverse wine list. We were also there on a Monday night, so it wasn't very crowded, which we all appreciated because we could talk with little background noise. The only reason I'm not giving La Palette an Outstanding rating is the ambiance is a little too casual and worn for my taste. Country French or not, I'd prefer to have a nicer environment. However, if you are in the neighborhood and have a chance to visit La Palette, do not pass it up!! I'm very confident you'll enjoy it.
