Gordo Ex Cafe - Toronto

We were staying at a hotel nearby and did not have a car. As we walked we came across gordos. Waitresses were very friendly. Cute decor. Good food

Although I am not from Venezuela , I love the Arepas. My experience was great: good customer service, good food . The only problem it is a bit pricey but with it, in my opinion.

The food is really good, maybe one of the best Venezuelan places in Toronto. Having said that, the service need to improve. The waiters were nice, they took our order super fast but they were extremely slow to bring the food to our table (i.e. We have to wait more than 30 min for cokes..). We had to ask twice to clean correctly our table and cutlery.Washrooms have to improve too. They don't have soap (I don't know how the employees clean their hands...) I ask twice for soap but they never fix the problem.Maybe they need more personal or better processes, but there is a lot of room to improve.

The menu is very long, typical Venezuelan dishes are large, well prepared. The place is small and unassuming, but very clean. It is more of a cafe than a restaurant. Service is friendly, the food is prepared fresh. There are many dishes to choose from, for every palate. Portions are quite large. Prices are very affordable, and the food is very good value. I only wish that they serve alcohol, especially beer, as the dishes would go phenomenally well with it. I think it is a great place for takeout too. Definitely a repeat.

Gordo ex cafe is well decorated with the geography of Venezuela. I invited my girlfriend who is from Venezuela to enjoy the place. The staff is friendly and help you with the menu info and size. We order four tequenos, which are cheese fried inside arepas and sancocho, which is soup of roots like edoe, yucca and also meat, which we shared due to its size. Then we degusted the orders of fried red snapper with salad and patacones, which are green fried plantains. sour-soup of guanaba was our drink. Every thing was very tasty, but expensive
