The A W banned me, and I bought food twice when I was stuck there at Bathurst St.Clair overnight twice. I have not done anything violent. I was quiet the whole time keeping to myself. Maybe being friendly to those who were friendly back. The odd time i may have freaked out with PTSD. I explained that to others, and they understood. They say they are all managers when you ask who the manager. The rest of the staff is okay. Those that claimed to be managers have been extremely rude to me and I have PTSD. Only one gal who said she was a manager was nice. The guy with the glasses and the chubby woman were the ones who treated me badly. The food could be improved. There's been a few times I have complained. I also stuck up for staff being harassed by others. They are the worst A W out there that have treated me badly. I am talking about those people involved. I used to love A W as a child. Now, it has left me with nothing but bad memories. The managers who ever they are don't know how to handle customer who aren't bad and they demonized people's illnesses.
I have never had such a terrible experience at a restaurant before. In my opinion, this A&W has reached a new level of disappointment. Having worked at an A&W before, I took my girlfriend to this location without hesitation. Unfortunately, the food was extremely salty, the restrooms were small, smelly, and dirty. I would recommend avoiding this particular A&W.
I was excited to revisit A&W after many years, but I was extremely disappointed with my recent experience. The quality of the food has gone downhill significantly. I ordered two Teen burger combos, which cost $30. The fries were lukewarm, one order was cold, and the burgers were virtually inedible. The beef patty was overcooked, the bacon was shriveled and hardly noticeable, and my request for extra onion and pickle resulted in an additional 40 cents charge without receiving the extras. Despite the Thorncliffe location not being busy, we waited 15 minutes for our food, which seemed precooked. The staff appeared indifferent to our complaints and did not offer to fix the sad state of our meals. It was clear that both the front and back of house staff lacked experience and a understanding of customer service. I regret wasting my time and money on such a disappointing meal when I could have gone to Wendy's or McDonald's for better quality food. A&W was a total letdown.
I am giving this restaurant a rating of 3.5 stars, rounding down. It had been a long time since I had last seen a musical in Toronto's theatre district. I used to be a regular theatre-goer over a decade ago, but then I stopped going for some reason. When I had a show to attend at Princess of Wales Theatre, my usual routine was to grab a bite to eat at Hey Lucy's beforehand. However, last month I had dessert at Holy Choco and had bubble tea from Sun Tea before heading towards the theatre. I was in need of a light snack and had originally planned to get a hot dog from the stand across the street from the theatre. Unfortunately, the stand only accepted cash and I rarely carry cash with me. I then noticed an A&W across the street from the hot dog stand and decided to give it a try. They had a deal on two sausage and egger sandwiches for $7.99, which was perfect for me. I placed my order with a friendly cashier and also got a diet root beer with a Blue Jays logo on it. I was informed that it would take about ten minutes to prepare my order and I paid with my debit card. The wait ended up being longer than expected, as the eatery was very busy with at least six people in the kitchen preparing food. When my order finally arrived, I was pleased with the cold and refreshing root beer and the delicious sausage and egger sandwiches. The English muffins were perfectly toasted, the egg was fried, the sausage was flavorful, and the melted cheese added a nice touch. Although the seating inside was limited, there was plenty of patio seating available. Despite the wait for fast food, I would recommend this place for a cheap and satisfying bite to eat.
