We hadn't planned to eat here, but the setting was incredibly lovely and inviting. The place promotes a picnic and community table concept, so the likelihood that you...
I'm taken aback by the number of negative reviews I've seen! I discovered The Slip on Instagram and was primarily drawn to it for the views and photo opportunities.
This place is exactly what it is—unremarkable yet revealing in its own way. I feel it's caught in the middle. It's not a destination you specifically aim for; rather, it's more of an incidental stop. You...
**Atmosphere:** The outdoor patio is beautifully situated along the Harbour Front walkway, featuring long booths with a beveled plastic top that helps shield diners from rain while also deflecting the heat of the sun — just what we needed! However, I wasn’t expecting the loud band next door; if we had known, we might have chosen a different spot. On another occasion, this would be a fantastic place for drinks, snacks, and live music since the band was quite good. **Food:** We ordered several dishes: 1. **Summer Salad** - This was a generous portion filled with a delightful mix of greens and fresh berries, especially the raspberries, along with cheese. It took my friend quite a while to finish it. 2. **Fried Corn with Chimichurri** - I loved the spice; it added a nice kick to the corn. 3. **Fish Tacos** - While small, they were quite tasty. 4. **Pulled Pork Burger** - The bun was excellent, and the pulled pork flavor was spot on. 5. **French Fries** - These were good as well. One issue I noticed was that two of us ordered the corn and two ordered the tacos, and they were served on the same plate. While this was okay since we were good friends, it might not have been appreciated in a different setting, and we weren't provided separate plates to share the items. It felt a bit awkward to have two of us leaning over the same plate of tacos. **Service:** The service was quite disappointing. We were seated promptly but had to wait a long time to place our order. No one checked in on us afterward, and tables of dirty dishes were left unattended until new diners arrived. They also seated two groups at our table while other tables remained dirty. One table stayed messy the entire time we were there. I wouldn’t mention this if the staff seemed overwhelmed, but it was quite the opposite; a few waitresses were standing around chatting near the entrance and bar. **Overall Impression:** The prices were a bit high, but considering the lovely surroundings, it was fair. The food was excellent, but the service was lacking. Perhaps the wait staff is more attentive during the evening when bigger tips are expected for less work. Still, this place would be fantastic for drinks on a summer evening!
