I started with braised cardoon in a rich, creamy almond sauce, followed by a brik crispy pastry filled with purple potato, mushrooms and tofu, accompanied by grilled vegetables and an onion sauce. This was a beautiful, colourful dish, packed with flavour, and if I went back and it was on the menu, I'd definitely order it again. I wish I didn't live a day's drive away, otherwise I'd be a regular diner in the Atalaya, not only for the quality of the food, but also the attentive and friendly service.
The restaurant was full, so booking is advisable. The food was typical of this area not haute cuisine but genuine, freshly made with good ingredients. The service was friendly and efficient. Everyone seemed to be enjoying their work while we certainly enjoyed the meal.
Rest of the town was dead on a Monday afternoon but they were open and friendly. We ordered mushroom croquettes, cod, and a burger with goat cheese. The burger was difficult to eat because it fell apart but it was large and delicious. French fries were perfect. Would go back.
