Caffe' Pausa Pranzo - Torino

Avoid! Would give it 0 stars if I could. I came here with my toddler and mum for some lunch. The lady who owns the restaurant is incredibly rude. She sat us down but made it seem like it was impossible to find us a table… there were only two other people in the restaurant, she told us sitting inside was not an option. She threw the menu at us and pointed two options we could choose from two pasta dishes she said no other options. We had not even finished our meals before she grabbed the half eaten plates of pasta from us and bought the bill. The bill was 30 euros for two pasta dishes and a can of Coke! I was shocked realising she charged 5 euros for coke and 5 euros for some disgusting old stale bread (we had not even asked for). I would highly avoid this place the food was average. I feel for the poor man who actually makes the pasta, cooks, serves and we also saw him cleaning the tables. In general local people of Turin are incredibly rude and not welcoming!

On the way to the hotel from the airport, this place looked busy with locals. The menu was limited so we opted for the Bolognese at €10 each. It was basic but tasty with good portions. I asked about the wine and was just told 'red or white '. Thinking it would be reasonably priced, we just opted for a bottle of red. When the bill came, we were shocked to see theg had charged €20 for the bottle. This sort of price should have been checked with us first. The wine was nice but the experience left a bad taste. They also slapped a 10% service charge on which we weren 't impressed with. There are far better and more reasonably priced local places as we discovered, offering much better value. And a little more friendly and open!

The food was excellent. It was a big portion. The lady taking our order wasn't that nice. She made us buy water otherwise they wouldn't serve the food. They don't speak English.

We are back because this restaurant is a must. The lady brunilde is legendary for her character who must be taken with the smile: like an aunt talking to you without filters. but beautiful and loving to die! yesterday we did not stop laughing (lacrime laughing) and she was at the game divinely. great irony and intelligence. the kitchen is delicious, you know, and do not miss its homemade cakes (especially apple pie with Catalan cream on it. Go with the spirit, but go!

In particular, it was felt that the pamphlet was not good, but they were interesting.
