Despite the outdated 80's decor, which is charming in a Victorian seaside town, the setup of this establishment is quite unique. Upon arrival, there were no Covid-secure guidelines in place, no staff wearing masks, no hand sanitizer available, and no one-way system. We ordered two cream teas, expecting fresh, local produce given that we were in Devon, known for its quality food. However, we were disappointed to receive a microwaved scone and cheap clotted cream and jam. For the price of £5 for tea and a scone, it would have been better to support local businesses by purchasing freshly made scones and locally sourced cream and jam. The cakes did appear to be well-made, but we did not try them. Overall, the venue could put more effort into improving the quality of their food offerings.
We popped into this cafe after the heavens decided to open and we needed somewhere to grab a bite to eat. It was a nice little place with a friendly waitress who helped me take my lunch to my table. The Cornish pasty was tasty and we had a nice hot chocolate that went with it. It was worth the price and a nice little stop off.
Terrible experience, food basic, cleanliness awful, toilets disgusting. Staff not interested, manager (Ali) very rude to customers and staff. We had cheesy chips there was green mould on the cheese. I had the cream tea, the clotted cream pot was on it's sell by date, and the scones were defrosted in the microwave the inside was still frozen. No wonder this has a food rating of 1 I did phone the council to check!! They do not display their rating no wonder really. This used to be an iconic restaurant in Paignton not now. Their other business is a kebab shop also without a food rating.!!
My sister and I visited this restaurant yesterday and enjoyed coffee and a snack. We were warmly welcomed by a delightful young woman at the door and seated at a window table where we could people watch. The place was spotlessly clean and followed all Covid guidelines. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff were all very kind and friendly. We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this restaurant.
The food at this restaurant was quite disappointing. The scones in the Devon cream tea were extremely dry, and the cream resembled butter more than clotted cream. The interior of the restaurant appeared outdated and run down, as if it hadn't been renovated since the 1970s. The toilets were also very dirty, with mold growing on the walls. Overall, I would recommend avoiding this place.
