Captain Jacks - Torbay

Had a wonderful couple of days here in Captain Jacks ..... they are very much part of the track and trace scheme and refuse service unless you fill it in . This is important to me and should be to everyone . so safe is how I felt straight away and at home. Then I ordered food which if I’m honest I thought ooh this is a bit of a limited choice but the food is like proper food. home cooked and delicious, so it’s a good choice and a good portion too. The hosts are great I feel really welcome, so thank you for that. In a time of such uncertainty Captain Jacks is a sure bet for a good time. In fact I think I’ll give it an excellent because since all this covid 19 stuff you either get excellent sanitizer and track and trace or an atmosphere , this place has it both.

We went here for drinks, had a warm welcome from Kevin and Helen who hadn't owned the bar long before Covid19 forced them to close, however they got through this and reopened. They also do meals, we had Sunday diner which was fabulous.

Every time I come to Paignton I visit this pub,the food is really nice and the atmosphere is great,you are always made to feel welcome.

My husband and I have been to this pub a few times since it came under new management and we have found it to be excellent. The owners are welcoming and friendly, always willing to help out. The pub is clean, spacious, and has a nice outdoor area. The Sunday roast was delicious, as were the ploughman's platter and nachos, all reasonably priced. This is a family and dog-friendly pub that is a hidden gem.

We (2) stayed in a colin road guest-house for 9 days. To find a food pub as good as captain jacks was a very pleasant surprise, especially in the same road. Under new management since start of lockdown, it is definitely not to be missed. We ate there several times, held a birthday party there, upon arrival of children grandchildren, and received absolutely superb service. We ended up drinking there every night, with a good atmosphere and very pleasant fellow visitors and very friendly locals. Proprietors are brilliant as evidently also is the chef. One cannot fault the food, service, or anything else. Anyone staying near should have a meal drinks in captain jacks. Good menu to suit everyone, and the sunday roast dinners are just brilliant but best to book as very popular. Marilyn Chris.
