Osteria Dei Maltagliati - TORANO NUOVO

First off this place is so cute. The photos are great and there's a nice outdoor seating area. I stopped in for dinner a few weeks ago and, after being seated, waited and waited and waited. I ordered and enjoyed the antipasti (multiple plates) which could have constituted a meal. The pasta was just ok. Prices were just slightly higher than average. It just seemed like a very very long dinner with noteworthy waits between courses. Perhaps it was because, although I speak Italian, I was not from this town. In any case not sure I would rush back.

We had a great family dinner and let the owner decide the menu. That proved to be a great decision. Great wines too.

Such a lovely place, lovely owners, AMAZING food and a great, yet improvable, natural wine list! This place is well known for their meat grilled on open fire but if you are vegetarian or even vegan, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. Being vegetarians, we went with most of the dishes available without meat. Every single dish was soooo good, so tasty, well balanced, well thought out. The owners are young and very friendly, the atmosphere of the place is historic and homely in one go! Do not miss out!! We are returning as soon as we can and will be a point of reference also in the future!

We enjoyed the 5 antipasti dishes served in this warm and inviting restaurant...the fried stuffed olives were amazing. My husband and I did not need to order any other courses after the antipasti service. Every bite was delicious and well presented. Bravo!
