Swains may not be open all the time, but if we feel like fish and chips, we usually check it out first. They have been going for some time, and still serve fresh crunchy chips and the best seafood in town. Service with a smile.
Disgusting service. Fish, chip and salad meal in front display for $9, asked for it without the salad only to have the lady screw her face up at this. I was then charged $16 and listened to her talk to the man that works there saying "did you hear that guy ask for the fish and chips without the salad, what an idiot so I charged him extra". Given this business only trades when they feel like it, touches food with bare hands and only excepts cash (hello fraud) I wouldn't be surprised if they were the next business to close in town.
After reading reviews and not knowing where to eat in Gladstone I rolled the dice with swains and I have to say it was the best fish, bugs, prawns, calamari I've had. Freah as it comes, the bug was flavoursome, calamari was absolutely delicious and the fish was unreal not to mention the prawns! NOT a dodgy fish and chip joint so expect to pay a few extra dollars for the food you want to enjoy!!
We had lunch in Gladstone from Swain's Seafood. The service we had was friendly and fast. They asked us if we wanted lemon and salt and they actually didn't give us lemon when we told them we didn't want it. Many times we say no lemon and get it blopped in. The calamari was cooked to perfection and were the chips.
