What made it worse was the dirt road down from the place was almost impossible to navigate in a sedan...so will not visit again. What would help this business and save the grief would be a new sign on the main road instead of the old faded one and a changeable sign saying now open or closed . The rose garden and the position was pleasant.
I'll be straight to the point...the food was awful and undercooked, and the prices were too high for the quality. The wine tasted like vinegar. The road to get there needs improvement as it is rough, so don't bring a nice car. The service was terrible and the owners act as if they are superior to others, making customers feel unwelcome unless they spend a lot of money. I will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone.
I was pleasantly surprised to find a winery in Gladstone with a cafe attached. Driving up the steep dirt road, we discovered a beautiful rose garden surrounded by rustic tables and chairs (be careful of splinters). As we sat and enjoyed our lunch, we watched a magpie family scrounging for food and singing songs. We tried the open lamb burger, crab and brie quiche, smoked salmon bruschetta, and tuscan focaccia, all of which were very tasty with a delicious side salad. You can also purchase their wine by the glass. While Gladstone is not a cheap place to dine, due to the mining boom, expect to spend around $20 for most meals. The restaurant also had a fantastic jewelry display and served delicious chocolates, including freeze-dried raspberries in milk chocolate. Additionally, visitors can taste and purchase the winery's products. Despite being devastated by a bush fire in October 2011, the owners are working hard to rebuild their vineyard.
I had planned to visit this restaurant earlier in the week, but it was closed. I decided to try again on Friday. When I arrived at 3:00 p.m., I was told that the kitchen had already closed at 2:00 p.m. They could only offer coffee and cake, not a full meal. Despite this, I decided to relax and ordered a glass of wine to enjoy in the beautiful outdoor area. The staff kindly offered me a taste of a white wine before I ordered. After seeing other patrons enjoying delicious lunches, I asked for a cheese plate. They were able to make a $17 cheese plate for two, but I wished I had known I could have ordered a smaller plate for one. Despite this, I still enjoyed the wine, the stunning views, and the beautiful Queensland weather. I am not looking forward to returning to Melbourne's winter!
Great place for a caffe but so a scandal that the owners seem no accompaniment, what they do and do not care about an iota for their customers. they come by as if they liked us by eating us and serving us coffee. poor, coffee terrible, wein not worth the money, access road and signage is horrific not disturbing! such a scandal that they could have made this place amazing!
