Their draught beer £5.80/pint) from Longman 's was beautifully kept and every mouthful of hop flavoured ale was perfect. It was very cosy in the small dining area adjacent to the bar as the log fire was blazing on this very wet Storm Babet night The beef and Suffolk blue cheese croquette with horseradish sauce £9.00) was delicious. Hot crispy crust with a wonderful savoury middle had to ask for more sauce which quickly arrived. The salmon rillette £9.00) was also enjoyed as a starter. I had the Thai green curry £17.50) with chicken again) and was not disappointed. Lovely medium hot curry with tender chicken pieces and rice, perfectly cooked, with a slight bite. Other enjoyed the Chicken Ballotine £19.00) which was stuffed with spinach, cheese and rolled in Parma ham. When it came to desserts, most of us were too well fed to tackle anything more than a digestive ice cream at £3.00 per dollop and really good. We liked the Picpoul de Minet £32.00) and large glass of Tempranillo £7.80) The food is in a class above mots other local restaurants and pubs so should command greater support!!
I eat out often and particularly for a roast on Sunday. I visited here today. I was pleasantly surprised. The roast was the best I’ve had in a pub. Meat cooked well. Excellent staff and lovely pub. It’s a 45 minute drive for me but this may well be my new Sunday lunch pub. Thank you
Plaxtol is a welcoming village with a charming pub that attracts locals looking for a great drink and interesting food in a cozy setting. Despite the outdoor development, the weather didn't cooperate on our July visit. We enjoyed the laid-back atmosphere while sipping on draught bitter ale and perusing the menu. My starter of chicken liver parfait with thick slices of brown bread and local strawberries was delicious, though toasted bread would have been a nice touch. The parfait was light and velvety, a delight to the taste buds. For my main course, I chose the Thai green curry with chicken and basmati rice, a flavorful and satisfying dish. The kitchen was happy to pack up the leftover tuna steaks for us. The total bill for drinks, wine, two courses, coffee, and gratuity came to £50 per person, a great value for a wonderful mid-week meal.
Quick dinner for the two of us with a late booking that they managed to fit us in. Very friendly, as usual, We both had a delightful chicken Thai curry. Perfect. And very filling.
Simply the best chips I have ever eaten. Would go back just to eat a bowl of chips. I ordered Ham, Egg and Chips and the portion was enormous. Other mains seemed much smaller and some other customers were disappointed by that.I hated the chairs they were really big for the tables and hard to move. Minor point maybe but I thought the restaurant's layout was generally a little strange, I felt a bit exposed the whole time. Not a comfortable room. But the chips ........
