We also buy their fresh tortilla chips, so we can immerse them in all their amazing sauces. Roasted tomatoes, creamy Zilantro and creamy Habanero are our favorites. It is inexpensive for seafood and you get a bit of food. It's a great value! Oh, and their fried shrimps are also good!
Fish and Camaron are located in Woodlands only west of I 45 on the North Freeway. This hidden little jewel in the north has all been entertaining in recent years. Well, I finally have the chance to see what they were talking about. Let's just say I enjoyed this delicious conversation every minute. After having lived in Southern California for 10 years, I became familiar with another style of Mexican seafood. Not exactly the Tex Mex we're used to here in Houston. At Fish and Camaron they call it Smart Fresh Seafood. And that's exactly what you get. This kitchen is exactly what the name says. It is a lighter form of seafood than the fried versions we use. Based on ceviche, grilled fish and slightly broken fried fish, the food in fish and camaron is healthy, light and tasty! Fish and Camaron are about to open their second restaurant in the forest. The place I visited is small, but they do great things. The dining area has a few tables and a long bar. There are also a few tables outside so you can enjoy a fresh air with the ultra fresh seafood. The guys from Fish and Camaron serve another unique concept: their homemade salsas. Over 10 different salses and counts! That works well as I found out for me; I tried every single one! My favorites were the Serrano, Cilantro, Habanero, Tamarindo, Chamoy and roasted tomatoes. It is a great way to allow everyone to enjoy the flavors they enjoy most. Dozen combinations are available with each menu item! Fish and Camaron are famous for their Ceviche and Fish Tacos. If you are not familiar with Ceviche, white fish is completely boiled in lime juice, then mixed with red onion, olive oil and a hint of Serrano pepper. It can be unexpectedly addicted. We started with a few Coronas they are now actually free (for those who are over 21 of course). We also have tostadas with a few different types of ceviche. The Tostada is a homemade crispy corn tortilla with ceviche and dressed with shredded salad and curly carrots. Critical and refreshing. I tried another salsa combination with every bite. I really liked the Tamarindo and Chamoy mixed with the Spicier Salsa to give it a nice sweet and spicy taste. An unbelievable and delicious treat! We tried some ceviche cocktails. The Vuelve A La Vida cocktail was a delicious cup full of ceviche and shrimp with signature cocktail sauce, chopped tomatoes, cilantro, diced avocado and olive oil. We also enjoyed the Ceviche cocktail, which was equal to minus the shrimps. You really need to get one of the Ceviche cocktails, I would recommend the Vuelve A La Vida cocktail as I am a huge shrimp fan and the better shrimp! Next were the mixed Aguachiles. Small cut fish and shrimp in fish and Camaron 's signature aguachile sauce, dipped with salad, red onion and avocado. I spread it on a tostada and enjoyed it through the spoon. You can eat aguachile in a number of different ways and add your favorite sosas, too! It won't be much better than that... just looking at photography. Two Aguachile sauces were used. The green sauce (Serrano, Gurke and Limette) and the orange sauce (Sriracha Sauce, Serrano, Gurke, Carrots and Lime). Both were very good. I suggest you get the mixed sauces and taste both sturdy flavors. The grilled fish tacos are a must! We have a few different versions served on a hot and fresh corn tortilla. Pastor Taco had white fish marinated in her signature Annatto seed sauce, grilled for perfection and served with roasted pineapple, chopped onions and freshly chopped Zilantro. Really good! The flavors work together so well and the roasted pineapple is what it puts over the top for me. The Chipotle Taco had white fish marinated in fish and Camaron's signature Chile Chipotle sauce, also grilled to perfection and served with caramelized onions and freshly chopped Zilantro. Like pineapples on pastor Taco, caramelized onions are the cause of my always so obvious permagrine. I cannot emphasize enough; this is not your usual Taco shop. This is cooked, casual food best! No Mexican Fiesta is complete without your classic flan for Dessert right? Right! I didn't want to rock the boat as they say, so I was forced to order the flame. Ha! Flan is a caramel pudding custard dessert with a layer of soft caramel on top. It was homemade like everything else here in Fish and Camaron. This creamy, sweet dessert gave me the adrenaline rush that you can only get with the best desserts. Although I was stuffed by all the big seafood, the flan was exactly what I needed. What a sweet finish to a wonderful afternoon! I must admit that the Ceviche at Fish and Camaron is the best I had in Houston this year. It is definitely worth enjoying this place.
I had the Yellow Aguachilles twice. Absolutely fabulous both times. Very recommend the alarm sauce Brave sauce with the fish tacos. Shrimp Ceviche small was perfect with the 2 other dishes between 2 people. Daily specials are always on the point.
When I first went to me, I was hesitant when that was something I had liked to eat at that time, boy I'm glad we sat down. The food was fresh and exceptional every time. Salsa Bar is delicious, and the staff is the best and friendly environment. Absolutely a must try!
Delicious! I highly recommend this place. It's close to home, fresh seafood healthy. The staff is always welcoming! Ceviche cocktails are my favorite!
