I could tell she was a seasoned professional as she placed our complimentary basket of warm bread on the table and walked us through the menu, highlighting the specials. Kate was attentive, demonstrating a keen awareness of her customers' needs while maintaining her charming demeanor. She's certainly earned a spot on my list of the best servers in Brevard—kudos to her! I decided to order the escargot à la Provençale, boeuf bourguignon, and a poulet crepe. As Kate rushed off to place our order, I couldn’t help but reflect on Titusville's culinary scene. What culinary scene, you might ask? While it's challenging to find high-end gastronomy on this part of the Space Coast, if the quality of the food matches the menu, this place could be the start of something significant for the area. Absentmindedly, I took a piece of the bread, slathered it with butter, and popped it into my mouth. A chef in Vero Beach once told me that bread is the first point of contact with customers and should set the standard for the meal. The escargots were served in a richly flavored hollandaise sauce that initially looked unappealing, but one taste had me hooked. They were bursting with flavor, and paired with fresh Provençal butter and the house-made hollandaise, they were a true delight! However, the crostini served alongside was a bit overcooked for my liking and didn’t effectively soak up the delicious sauce. Next came the boeuf bourguignon, a quintessential French dish that beautifully showcases the art of slow cooking. Traditionally made with Burgundy wine, this dish did not disappoint. While I suspected the beef was choice rather than USDA prime, it was still excellent, largely thanks to the outstanding sauce. The chef utilized preserved mushrooms in a rich house-made Burgundy sauce that was simply out of this world. However, the dish was accompanied by a standard iceberg salad with crushed carrots and tomato wedges, drizzled with a basic vinaigrette—nothing extraordinary here. Finally, I tried the poulet crepe. Although the presentation was appealing, the crepe itself seemed a bit overcooked, and the ingredients lacked that special touch. Admittedly, Titusville isn't known for its haute cuisine, and Chez Maxime has some work to do to elevate its offerings. That said, the sides of potato wedges and fresh vegetables were delightful and contributed positively to the overall experience. If you find yourself in Titusville and are looking for an uplifted meal without high expectations, I recommend giving Chez Maxime a try.
This restaurant is fantastic! The service is outstanding, thanks to the friendly Rhonda, and the food is exceptional, courtesy of the talented kitchen staff and chef. Beyond the usual expectations, the dining experience is delightful, with a great atmosphere and reasonable prices. This place truly stands out. Rhonda remembered my family, our orders, and our dietary restrictions, which made us feel valued. The chef even came to our table to greet us, check on our experience, and ensure our nutritional needs were met. From the homemade dishes to the caring staff, I cannot recommend this place highly enough!
This week, I stopped by to check out this restaurant, but I found it was closed. We walked around the shopping center, thinking we might be missing something. We also tried to call the posted phone number, but it seems to be disconnected.
I stopped in for lunch and had the French onion soup and boeuf bourguignon. In was quite delicious and the hosts were quite friendly and attentive despite the early hour I stopped in right when they opened at 11).
Chez Maxime has delicious French food. It is hidden away in a very slow mall, so I sincerely hope people find it.
