All food prepared with mineral water, very clean place. Lot's of Indians, very fast turnover so you know it's super fresh. Friendly staff. Thali : 115R dagschotel, dish of the day is à volonté or as much as you like. You get a plate with...one chappatti, small cups with tasty curries, dahl lentles mix , curd, sweet vermicelli, mint rice,.... A lot! They come round with more rice, Plus pappadam appalam extra costs 3R! ; FRESH Pomegranate juice no added stuff I think : 65R
There are Abbirami's in Tiruvannamalai: Main Town on Carr Street, (East Raja Gopuram) which is the oldest and the one my review is about; one in Sarvesh JS Palace Hotel near Ammani Amman Temple entrance (North), which is the newest one; one right...next to and in front of the main Raja Gopuram (East), on little road where Arunachala Hotel is; one opposite the Bus Terminal; and one more that I forgot, but is a part of another Hotel. I have eaten at the first But, my review is about the first one on Carr Street a few blocks south of the Temple. The Abbirami on Carr Street is great. A real people's restaurant and a favourite of the locals and Indian visitors, as well as more and more foreigners, as they find out about it. They serve traditional MEALS, which is basically rice Tali and also have a long menu of foods to order. I like their GREAT tiffin food, like Iddli's, dosas, rawa dosas, uttapam, idiapam and their chai. Also, their paneer is really good. I have eaten there since and have never gotten sick. The staff is courteous and friendly. The food is fresh. During meal times it is very crowded and anyone will sit at your table. Much fun. The prices are reasonable, even though the price of chai has risen over the last years. You can order chai without sugar and they will accommodate, also. I love eating here for tiffin food. My favourite in Tiruvannamalai.
