Do not find a restaurant in the tourist area. Zi Teresa is only 4 minutes from the train station on the main street of the city and it is excellent. You have daily menus as well as a beautiful selection a la carte and the food is fantastic. The service is also great and they have this atmosphere of the old town, which is very appealing. In addition, the owner is a wine cellar with a wide selection of local wines in the restaurant. If you ask him for a recommendation, he will be more than happy to recommend some even if you do not drink on site. He is also ready to buy you wine from the cup of almost any of his bottles. Prices are very reasonable at this point for what you receive in return. Very recommended!
Came upon this by chance, close to the Tigre railway station (1 hour from main BA Retiro station). Had meal of the day (which was beef and vegetables) and white fish and seasonal salad. Large helpings of very tasty food. Washed down with a large bottle of local beer. Very friendly service from the lovely English speaking waitress. We noticed several customers who appeared to be lunch time regulars. All together a good experience at a reasonable 365 pesos!
It was pouring and I needed a place to warm up and wait out the rain. I walked into Teresa as it was the nearest place and it was nice to see a big group of locals engrossed in the football match on TV. The waitress (probably owner's daughter) managed to speak some English so I tried to convey I'm vegetarian and ordered an eggplant dish for the starter. It was a cold dish while I expected something hot. I was still hungry, so I ordered the spaghetti, and it was the best I've ever had! It was made just right the texture, the sauce:spaghetti ratio, the temperature! It was the heartiest meal I had in days! They have a huge selection of wine though I didn't try any. Overall, it's a nice and cosy cafe to spend a couple of hours or to grab a quick bite while looking at the sights in Tigre. Definitely recommended!!
We found this place by accident, since it is not on the main tourist roads. It was full of locals, and the people there were very friendly. Food was great and very reasonable. Highly recommended, get off the tourist track.
