At first, none of the waiters leads us to a table, so we decided to sit in one as they ignored us. Then a waitress asked us if we had already ordered and we said no. After the order it took about 20 min to serve on the table. Cold and oily. No taste. I don't recommend it because I wasn't for what I paid, plus the service wasn't friendly. No smile or Feliz Año Nuevo ( Happy New Years) as today is 01/01/2018.
Some friends of mine brought me here when they knew the place. The restaurant is very nice, with a welcoming garden and atmosphere inside. The food was not good at all. I ordered Matambre de cerdo con verduras (poor slices with vegetables) but the meat was quite difficult to chew. Dessert was really nothing special (flan casero). I wouldn't come back.
Great spot if it's sunny the garden is beautiful and a sun trap. However the food is terrible, and we felt completely ripped off we ordered the ejecutivo menu which includes a coffee and a drink. We asked if a glass of wine constituted the included drink to be told yes, however we were later charged for it. Furthermore when we ordered our coffees we were not advised that only an espresso is included, so when the bill came our cafe con leches were also charged for. The desert order was incorrect as well, so we ended up paying much more that we'd anticipated and they would not concede that we had not been properly informed. We felt deliberately ripped off as tourists, which has not happened so far for us in a month of South American travel. Very disappointing.
I have stayed at the Villa Julia hotel on two different occasions for a total of about 15 nights, enjoying each visit. While the hotel itself is a place I would recommend to anyone and everyone, the restaurant is unremarkable with one exception: its horrible service. On 3 of the 4 times I visited the restaurant I had to wait over half an hour to receive a menu, or indeed any notice by the staff. There is not even a wine menu for the restaurant as they offer only 3 kinds of wine something I find incredible for the area. The food is average, but certainly not anywhere near good enough to justify the horrible service.
Sat on the patio and had a three course lunch. Had a three course lunch. Comprising a caprese salad, Argentine steak and apple pie with ice cream. Service and food was amazing. Lovely views over the Tigre. The main dining room was empty as people were on the patio or out on the lawn under marquees.
