Previously i have ordered from swiss chalet and was disappointed so had not eaten there or orded from there. I figured hey why not its been a couple years it could not have gotten worse. Boy was I wrong. Tonight we ordered 2 chicken dinners c/w an app and upgraded to a poutine. The meal came to just under $80 and came cold. The app was ok. The 8 piece chicken dinner came with no coleslaw no dipping sauce and no gravy for the fries. The 12 piece dinner came with no sauce, no gravy. The toast was bread not toasted and soaked in grease, more of a soaked sponge type presence and was not edible. The pickles were 2 lumps of something green and had an off taste. The chicken poutine was cold had zero gravy and was only lumps of half melted cheese, potatoes and chunks of over done chicken with zero gravy. Imagine a poutine without gravy. The nashville chicken wings were dry, not hot and the hand breading was half missing. Never again will I eat at a Swiss Chalet, not even if they really existed in Switzerland. Bon appetite
We attended on a Saturday at 6pm, the restaurant was less then half filled. There were at least 30 seats at tables/booths opened beside us. The food was excellent and our server was exceptional. The issue is that I became aware of a group of youth visiting Thunder Bay 17 people that wanted to join us at 6:30pm for dinner. When I advised the front hostess, she said she needed to speak with the onsite supervisor, who shared they were understaffed, had new cooks on and would be unable to accommodate without a reservation. I understand that pre booking is ideal, and agree if the restaurant was at capacity. However there was more than enough helper staff that were not busy, or they need supervision to assign them more back in the kitchen duties because nothing is more frustrating than seeing staff who are folding napkins (in a group of 3) or aimlessly walking around with spray bottles. Our waitress was busy she should of been allowed to use one as a helper to go and get the odds and ends (ketchup, extra napkins, clearing plates) as needed. A poor decision at any rate for the supervisor on staff, lost business and instead of accommodating. Also, use the empty space on the other side of restaurant, this would of been excellent space for a small party. Also extend hours 8pm closure? really?
The restaurant has a typical decor for this chain of restaurant. Cleanliness inside is not well maintained. No seating or service at bar. My meal was not as shown in picture with food not as fresh, waitress did not seem to care and was rude answering my questions.
Ordered at 5 pm , inquired at 630 and the lady didnt explain at that time that the order was mixed up, phoned again at 700 and asked for a manager, only to be told that they will call me back, she then explained that 2 orders at the same street got mixed up ... I think they should of know at that point to call and tell the customer of the mix up and apologize... ALSO she reassured to have fresh food, but came within 20 minutes of the aftermath... dont think it was fresh, reheated maybe... Won't be ordering from here during the lockdown again and probably wont use the coupons that exprire by Dec 2021
