The Standard Tandoori - Three Rivers

I stumbled upon this restaurant by chance while cruising along the Grand Union Canal. We docked by the lock and strolled up the lane to the nearby shops. What a hidden gem we found! This traditional curry house is impeccably clean and has a cozy atmosphere with charming dining booths. The owner, who has run the business since 1980, provided excellent service. The extensive menu caters to all tastes. We were delighted by the arrival of ice-cold Kingfisher beers, followed by crispy poppadums and generous portions of pickles and sauces. My mixed grill starter was so large and tasty that it could have easily been a main course. The mains of chicken dansak and chicken biriyani, along with sides of saag aloo and peshwari naan, filled our table. We couldn't finish it all, so we took home leftovers and enjoyed them the next day. The quality and quantity of food at such affordable prices is truly impressive. We will definitely be stopping by again on our way back. I have been a fan of Indian cuisine for almost 50 years, and I continue to be pleasantly surprised by the offerings in the UK. The Croxley Green Standard Tandoori is a must-visit; you won't be disappointed!

I have eaten at the Standard Tandoori twice now and both times have been excellent. I will be going again tonight. The food is delicious, the prices are good, and overall it is a great dining experience.

I dined at this restaurant on a bank holiday evening. Upon entering, I found the restaurant to be very busy, but luckily we were able to secure a table for our group of four. We were greeted with a warm and friendly welcome and received good service despite the staff being very busy. However, the highlight of the evening was the delicious food - the dishes were superbly spiced and the portions were generous. This was our first visit to the restaurant, but it certainly won't be our last.

We have been coming here for over 20 years and the food gets better and better. The waiters are friendly and the service excellent. My Achari Chicken last night was really tasty. The restaurant is always clean and the tables look nice with crisp white tablecloths, etc. Will return again soon.

We went on recommendation that this would be a great curry, when ordering the guy taking the order did not understand my order so had to pass the phone to a colleague, when my partners order came it was disgusting, the chicken was clearly frozen beforehand, rubbery and dry, he also asked for the dish madras hot, they just dumped a load of chilli powder into the dish before dishing up, the other dishes provided were very average, won’t bother again!
