The mystery itself was separated into 3 batches of clues, and the actors did a lot of great scripted and improv work. the clues are posted on the wall as well as available by QR code to examine on your phone. If you're of that age, bring your glasses. I loved that we were at a table with one of the actors! it made the dinner even more entertaining, as I sized them up. I also accidentally asked some pretty invasive questions to someone who was just a guest during the socializing part where we introduce ourselves to other guests. I really thought she was an actor/suspect! The dinner was decent for an event like this where they are serving a big group all at once. I see a lot of complaints here but I think those posters had unrealistic expectations. Salad, bread, and iced tea were available as soon as you sat down. 2 light apps were served by waiters circling multiple times. I was a bit hungry by the time dinner was served but it was great (i had salmon, my husband had chicken). the chocolate cake served for dessert was good. If you're looking for a super fancy meal out then just go to a fancy restaurant, you'll easily blow the cost of your ticket there without a live show involved. Pro tip to win, you'll want to not just identify who dunnit but include as many details around motives and clues as you can, you don't have very long to write it all down after the last clues are dropped.
Such a great experience! Not only are you engaged with the cast, you’re also engaged with the other guests. Great food and great entertainment. I absolutely recommend going!!
Went to a Dinner Detective event this evening at the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Burbank and had a blast. First time doing a dinner murder mystery thing and didn't know what to expect. Arrived and had a cocktail at the hotel bar then signed in for the event. Dinner was better than expected with wedding reception style choices of fish or chicken and bar was excellent with tasty cocktails. The evening entertainment was awesome. Funny actors putting on a comedic murder mystery performance lasting about 3 hours. Will definitely go again.
The dinner detective show is good. Not great. The actors put a lot into the show, but it was very confusing. The dinner was a different story. If you are expecting a good large meal, forget it. We received 1 small mushroom as an appetizer. Supposed to get 1 small shrimp too. That was never offered. For the main course, we received a very small chicken patty and half scoop of mashed potatoes. We went out after and got something to eat. If you go, only for the entertainment, it was a fun night. But I would not go again.
Marc, About your response to the food served. When we arrived at 6:00 there was salad and bread at our table. Which were actually good. The appetizers you speak of and the servers walking around with them were not sanitary, as each guest took one piece from the trays themselves. The serves should be asking the guests what they would like and serve each individual using suitable utensils. Not have all these guests germs contaminating the rest of the appetizers on the plate as they serve themselves. As I mentioned earlier about the appetizers, you only got to serve yourself one. Also, these appetizers were shrimp wrapped bacon and a mini toast cracker with spinach dip. Only one vegetarian option. One appetizer is not sufficient enough to satisfy a persons hunger. And dessert was coffee. Not to many people drink coffee at 8:45 and definitely not for dessert. I don't consider coffee a dessert. A cookie or slice of cake, that's dessert. Even a piece of chocolate but not coffee. I don't know if you attend every dinner. I'm just reporting my husband and mine experience. Things probably aren't meant to go awry but they did the night that we attended. So please try to understand that I'm describing our not so good of a night.
