Le Relais du Grand Bournais - Thouars

I had lunch here with a friend today for the first time. Buffet starters with a choice of around 9 or 10 dishes including a vast array of charcuterie, prawns and seafood salad. Main course was a choice of a meat dish, a fish dish or a ham omelette. Huge cheeseboard selection followed by a dessert of your choice from the chilled cabinet or the dessert of the day displayed on the board. Today’s selection was fresh strawberries with ice cream and chantilly. So 4 courses with a jug of red, Rosé or white wine all for 13€.50!!! I can’t fail to mention the waiter and waitress who were very attentive without being overbearing and never ceased to smile all through service. Will be visiting again without a doubt.

Went to the Thouars market in the morning and wanted somewhere to eat for lunch. We have passed this place many times on our way through to Saumur. Decided to give it a whirl. Like most Relais restaurants the decor is basic but the food is very good. There is a very large and varied buffet for the starter course. When we went they had fresh prawns, advocados, various cold meats, salads etc. There was a choice of 3 main meals the steak was delicious and cooked just as I like. For the desert course there was a choice from the buffet or profiteroles. The place was very busy, mainly drivers and workers with the odd couple dotted here and there. The staff were very friendly and overall this was a really great place to eat.

Lovely lunch wth three young children! Everything good! Service excellent as usual. We have been here many times en couple and it is always a great lunch experience and good value for money.

Le Relais du Grand Bournais is located in Northwestern outskirts of Thouars at the D938 road. Driving down the road we decided for Le Relais du Grand Bournais for lunch as the restaurant was packed with locals and truckers. We were not disappointed. Food is better than average. The restaurant has a huge free parking. The basically furnished decorated restaurant offers unpretentious dishes. Service is quick, adequate and friendly. The menu includes a buffet of starters, a choice of four hot dishes, a cheese buffet and a dessert buffet. Drinks are included (wine, cidre, sparkling water, lemonade). We recommend Le Relais du Grand Bournais to anyone who seeks OK food for a very acceptable price.

Hier soir je me suis garé dans ce restaurant que je ne connaissais pas. Pour moi, c'est été parfait, un bon parking PL bien distribué, bon accueil, excellent rapport qualité prix, 13,5€ entrées à volonté, plat de résistance, assiette de fromages et désert, et boissons tout compris, hors café.Cuisine traditionnelle, frites maison.Toilettes grands et propres.La seule faute que je trouve, est que l'après-midi ouvre à 19:00h. Je recommande 100%
