Cody's Original Roadhouse Sumter

Came on a day trip into the villages and ate at cody’s. the food was good, the prospects better, and the staff excellent. I had the best rib it was delicious, but there was a big ol' hunk of fat that could have been cut off. the cake at the end of the meal was gigantic and rich. 9/10 will be back.

The bread was very soft and delicious, which was a good start. However, the butter that came with it had an overwhelming amount of cinnamon. The French onion soup was overly salty and had burnt croutons. The salad was average. The steak was dry and flavorless, and even the medium rare option had no pink in it. The restaurant seems to struggle with cooking steaks properly. When we asked the waitress about it, she was defensive and mentioned that they don't add salt to the steaks, but even so, they lacked flavor. The sauce we liked was not provided, and the beer we ordered, Stella, did not taste authentic. The water also tasted off. Service was slow despite the restaurant being half empty. Overall, we were not satisfied and would consider trying other options in the future.

Great atmosphere! although Cody’s was super busy on a Saturday night, we used her two for a drink on the bar and before we knew we were sitting. I wish I could remember the names of our waiter. he made sure that we had a good time, he got our party of 4 orderings right and made sure he stayed on our needs. that was delicious. 3 of us had steaks that were perfectly cooked. my mother got the ribs that was a huge part, much for her to take home and serve as another meal. next time we're in the villages.

I may be feeling pressured not to give Cody's Restaurant 4 stars, but I really enjoyed the spaciousness of the venue and its ability to accommodate a large number of people. The restaurant is situated on a picturesque lake, with a large bar and plenty of seating options both inside and outside. Even in 2022, the service was satisfactory in my experience. Despite a slight wait while the host fielded phone calls and seated us, the portions of food were generous and the tableside house salad in a large metal bowl was delicious. The iceberg salad was particularly tasty. I opted for the shrimp and beef poke bowl, which had excellent flavors and quality ingredients. The prices were reasonable, especially considering the current inflation rates. We arrived slightly before peak dining hours, so the restaurant wasn't too busy, but overall it was a positive dining experience. The local community appreciates having a restaurant like Cody's as an option, and I would recommend supporting them – they are certainly worth your patronage!

The restaurant serves bar food that is overpriced and the quality of service can be inconsistent. Despite being told there would be a 15-20 minute wait for a table, we ended up waiting for an hour. After inquiring about our table, we were suddenly told it was ready. While our drink order was promptly taken, our server disappeared afterwards. She eventually reappeared to take our refill and app orders, but it took quite some time for them to arrive. The app was served cold, most likely having been left sitting at the window. Although the restaurant offers a nice view, don't expect excellent service or food.
