St Mary’s - The Vale of Glamorgan

We visited this restaurant for lunch with six adults and two children. We started with melon, soup, and crayfish salad, and the portions were quite large. The salad and melon were beautifully presented and could have been meals on their own. The main courses were also well presented, with beef, turkey, and pork dishes that were all generous in size. The plates were filled with a variety of roasties and plenty of vegetables, served with lots of hot gravy. The meals were all served piping hot. We enjoyed a selection of desserts, all of which were substantial portions. The staff were well presented, cheerful, and helpful. Overall, it was a great dining experience.

We have been attending this venue for a number of years for a Family Christmas meal... a mixture of oaps adults and children 50 guests, the meal was pre-ordered the week before (from a limited menu) to give them plenty of time to prepare, the turkey and beef arrived but 5-8 minutes later the veggies arrived by this time the meat was cold,... I also thought the quality of food has deteriorated over the last few year... the were just 3 staff serving that included the bar maid.. on tempting to purchase a drink mid way through the meal we were told that the bar was closed for 10mins until the meal had finished being served which was more like 20-30 mins... the meal was not up to the usual standard.

I had never been to this restaurant before, but I decided to give it a try since my friends were coming from Cardiff and we were all meeting in Bridgend. Even though we arrived early at 12 o'clock, the restaurant was empty, but the waitress made us feel welcome. We decided to have drinks and opted for the lighter options of flatbreads and sandwiches. I must say, we were all very pleased with the food. The presentation was excellent and the meals were tasty and filling. As more people arrived, the atmosphere in the bar became lively. In fact, we enjoyed it so much that we have already booked our Christmas get-together there in December. I would highly recommend this place.

The bar was lovely, but the courtyard is lovely to have a drink before a meal on a warm day. We celebrate a birthday and the staff was so helpful, nothing seemed to be to much trouble for us. The food was excellent and the wine selection was good and I found the hotel did not excessively charge for bottles of wine. The table was decorated beautifully and it was just a shame that I and a few others were far to full to enjoy deserts! Would happily eat here again any time, and thank you to all the staff making it such a lovely evening

Lovely place to eat, food good although we booked in advance and were a party of 9, When the waiter took our orders there were many food items not available, considering we were the only ones there (6.30pm booking) , this was disappointing however what we did have was superb.
