Orient Cafe - The Dalles

I enjoyed the flavors of the food at this restaurant. The Oriental cuisine is cooked in fresh water, which makes a noticeable difference in the taste compared to food cooked in bad water.

Please trust me when I say that this is the worst Chinese food I have ever ordered. The shrimp fried rice had sprouts in it, making it crispy and taste like bean sprouts instead of shrimp fried rice. The shrimp egg foo young was muddy and the gravy tasted more like turkey gravy. The wonton soup was decent with a little bit of chicken, but there was no Asian taste. The sweet and sour chicken was just fried pieces of chicken with the only flavor coming from the sauce. The spring rolls were also muddy and bland. Overall, everything was disappointing. I ordered this food for takeout and would have sent it back if I had eaten in the restaurant. This meal doesn't even deserve half a star. Comparatively, Panda Express is gourmet. This meal was a waste.

This is our favorite place to eat. The food and service are excellent and the prices are very reasonable. It has a simple and laid-back atmosphere, but once you start eating, it feels like you're in a 5-star restaurant. I can't get enough of their kung pao chicken. Be sure to also order a side of fried noodles.

They have good food. visited the dalles and wanted to eat some Chinese.

Their more traditional food items are wonderful and I believe are a hidden gem in the community. I highly recommend the Cumin beef, curry beef chow fun, and sha cha dish also!
