Thevars Briyaani - Thanjāvūr

The food is average, not very tasty. Portions are smaller than expected for a quality meal. The meat also lacks flavor. It is inexpensive.

Had lunch from there. Not veg thali meals are called in their meu. Only the heaviness was there and there was a piece of chicken neck in the chicken engraving. Please avoid, if possible.

The non-vegetarian dishes and biryani at this restaurant were all excellent. The fish fry (valarpu meen and Viral fish) was especially delicious.

Very old non veg hotel started by Somu Thevar in Kandiyur near Thiruvaiyaru in Thanjavur District. All govt vehicles used to come to Kandiyur for lunch and dinner in 70's and 80's. After shifting to Thanjavur it has lost its originality and switched to veg restaurant, which they are not comfortable with. Now both are not good.

Thevars Biryani is good non vegetarian option in the town. There's one restaurant New Thevars nearby which serves pure vegetarian food so don't mess with the name! We had chicken, mutton and veg biryani for the dinner. Taste was good, ambience is not that great. Also tried one of tikkas as stater which was also good.
