The coffee and cakes are OK assuming you can ever get served. Service is at a glacial pace and there's frequently just one very slow person serving, even at busy times of the day, while a queue stretches out onto the High Street. And this means tables don't get cleaned very often or very thoroughly. If you're in a wheelchair, the tables are packed too close together (so much for social distancing) at the front of the cafe and because of the constant queue, getting past to go to the back where there's more room is very difficult. If you're disabled and have trouble standing, don't even bother, given the length of the queue and the speed at which it moves. I've been to other Coffee #1 branches in the south west and most seem fine it's just Tewkesbury where they're slow and unfriendly.
I had a negative experience at this restaurant due to a very rude woman who turned out to be the manager. It was clear from reading other reviews that I was not the only one who had this experience. The other staff also did not seem happy, which is no surprise given the management. It's unfortunate.
My family and I visited this restaurant on Saturday morning and were met with rudeness from the female manager (I believe her name was Sandra). She informed us that we would have to wait as she was busy. When she finally attended to us, her service was abrupt and she seemed annoyed when we ordered additional drinks. She spoke to us condescendingly and slammed the drinks on the counter before saying, "there". Overall, we felt like we were a bother to her and will not be returning to this restaurant, especially when this manager is on duty.
This is my second visit to the restaurant this week and I have to say, the staff was not up to par. There was only one team member working the till, serving food and drinks, and there were queues out the door. It took 20 minutes to get a latte on both occasions, even though there was only one person in front of me. On Sunday, the poor lady was clearly overwhelmed as the other team member left at 2 pm.
