We were so happy with our experience and how accomodating they were for us. Gorgeous views of the river and amazing food!!
Absolutely love the location. Good service and good food. Great place to come on special occasion like mothers or Father's Day. Great to take a walk along the board walk after a meal. Recommend although we don't come very often, we should. Maybe they could advertise a bit more as we forget it's there often
Food was delicious and service was ok. Coffee wasn't hot enough, waited for our water glasses to be filled up after we were seated... no a big deal but waitress said I'll bring water over and forgot again. Good views. They need to clean their windows more often they were Filthy not a good look when you are in a toffee area like that and the sun is shinning and showing all of the dirty windows off. I'll definitely go back though. It's the food that I care about the most and it was delicious
Beautiful views of the Brisbane River and attentive service are hallmarks of Eve's on the River, but be prepared to pay premium prices for meals that are average at best, despite being generous in size. We began with the Cointreau and Duck Liver Pate, the Cream Corn and Mozzarella Croquettes, and the Turkish Bread. These were intended as sharing plates and there was more than enough to go around. The Cointreau and Duck Liver Pate had good texture, but the Cointreau was barely discernible. This may have been the largest serving of Pate I have ever been served in a restaurant, but sadly it was not one of the better ones I've tasted - 3. The Cream Corn and Mozzarella Croquettes were served with a smoked tomato aioli and were probably the highlight of the meal - 3.5. The Turkish Bread was served with Hummus, Balsamic Glaze and Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and ground Turmeric with Nuts. There was enough Turkish Bread for four people, but the bread and the dips lacked flavour and went unfinished - 3. Next we shared the Braised Beef Cheek and Portobello Mushroom Ravioli served with Salsa Verde and Lemon. This was the low-point of the meal. The ravioli were dry, lacked flavour and there was no discernible taste of beef cheek and/or mushroom. The salsa verde did little to help as the flavours didn't complement each other. I would give this dish a pass as a 1.5-2 rating is probably a bit generous. Next up was the Spinach Gnocchi with Roasted Pumpkin, Sage, Pine Nuts and Goats Cheese. The gnocchi were dry, as was the whole dish, and the flavours were very bland. The best thing I can say about this dish is that the small serving was still quite large - 2.5. The final dish was the 120 day grain fed Eye Fillet served with twice cooked cassava, baby spinach, vibe tomatoes and red wine jus. The eye fillet was cooked nicely, but the meat and/or red wine jus was exceptionally salty. By contrast, the cassava was dry and lacking flavour. Had I paid the advertised price of $39 for this dish I would have been very upset. This rates a 2.5-3. Overall, I'd have to rate Eve's a 2.5, which is pretty generous and reflects the wonderful views and attentive service. The only dish we were inspired to finish was the croquettes - everything else was discarded or packed up to bring home to the dogs. Fortunately, Lady Meatball booked our lunch reservation using one of Dimmi's 50% off deals -50% off the food portion of your bill. At 50% off ($91 including two glasses of wine) this meal was disappointing, but had I paid full price of $160+ for lunch I probably would have sent back the ravioli and gnocchi and would have left in a foul mood. I wouldn't recommend this place at full price and even at 50% off I'd encourage you to go there for the views, not the food.
Six people, and none of the six were happy. The poached eggs were hard (no runny yoke), the toast was burnt, banana smoothies were watery, the orange and almond bread came out as cake (we specifically asked and the waitress indicated two slices of bread, then apologised when it came out with one piece of cake and said she could have a second if needed - it wasn't wanted as cake for breakfast was not what was ordered, and the raspberry jus that accompanied it was too tart), the bacon was hard and over cooked, the haloumi was tasteless and leathery, and the french toast was bland. Six different menu items and we weren't happy with any of them, however the only food positive was the salmon bagel wasn't too bad but the bagel was nearly inedible (couldn't be cut) as it was very tough. The only good food item that was delivered was the coffee and iced coffee, the rest ... we won't be back.
