Not much choice for soft drinks (just 3). Tea and drinks came out but even though we had pre ordered, there was a very long wait for the food. When the food finally arrived the platters were doubled up and not individually served like other tables. Sandwiches were fresh and tasty but we had ordered all on brown bread. We received brown and white bread. Scones were nice but jam seemed a cheap brand. Mini desserts were mediocre. Wasn’t told what cheesecake of the day was. Had to ask after we had it. Victoria sponge was an oblong shape cut in half to make two pieces and buttercream too buttery. Lemon drizzle lacked lemon flavour but the chocolate fudge was delicious, sponge was fluffy.
Arranged a baby shower with the lovely help from the owner of the Vintage Tea Room Throughly enjoyed the food they offered, love they cater to gluten free allergies without any complaint Beautifully designed and friendly Highly recommend
I have visited this restaurant several times and have enjoyed each visit. The homemade fillings, especially the blue cheese, chilli, and ham, are delicious. They have a great variety of desserts, with different cakes offered every time I have been there. I would definitely recommend this place.
My sister and I visited The Vintage Tea Room after craving a nice sandwich .the staff were pleasant but the sandwiches were a real let down. Hoping for sliced chicken and a slice of decent bacon on thick cut bakery style bread, we were given a mixture chopped up chicken with small pieces of bacon combined with mayo I assume this was to make the filling go further . The bread was cheap supermarket bread. This place has the potential to be really lovely but I could have bought the same sandwich from Greggs.
Came here yesterday 5/9/20) for a birthday treat, and after reading reviews we were really excited! However, the whole experience was pretty average and I for one, was quite disappointed... Food was nice but nothing too special, staff weren’t really that helpful and kept disappearing, they seemed very unsure of what they were doing and how to deliver customer service. Considering there was only 4 tables in when we went, they really should’ve been on the ball more.... Also, I opted for a peppermint tea as I’m caffeine intolerant, and it came in a horrible mug instead of a teacup and teapot, and we were never offered refills or even asked if we wanted anything else. I suppose the food is okay for the price £13.95 per afternoon tea) but I wouldn’t choose to come back here in a hurry. A few personal touches, better trained staff, and a bigger savoury selection/better selection of food would make this place a lot better.
