Tea Gardens Boatshed

Whichever meal time you choose you can't go wrong with the Boatshed. Food is excellent and the staff friendly. Come and watch the dolphins and pelicans. Then sit back with a great coffee

We had a great breakfast. Good coffee, fast service, huge meal of scrambled egg, mushrooms, bacon. Very obliging changes to set item, nothing but smiles.We went back for a quick lunch, some entrees since we were full from breakfast ... lovely fresh seafood, great views, fresh air and friendly people

We recently had sunday lunch at the boatshed with friends visiting from Sydney.After a visit earlier this year I titled the review "dissapointing"!The location is great.The staff are very friendly and, efficient.The menu is still limited but with a bit of imagination could be improved!I had beer battered fish and chips,mixed leaf salad,lemon and tatare which apart from the "mixed leaf salad" was pretty much the same as the fish and chips from the Hook and Cook takaway up the road.and maybe not as good!!Substitute the salad with maybe two pieces of calamari or,squid .The other meals appeared to be pretty ordinary.The Coffee is great ,they obviously are popular for breakfast and,coffee and cake as a local I pass by frequently and there are always plenty of cars.The main menu can be improved!There was also a 10% surcharge for Sunday which not unusual these days is not always charged at many of the restaurants we visit!

It's a decent walk from Jimmy's Beach (via Bennetts Beach) to Tea Gardens. Needless to say, when we arrived just after midday, we had built up an appetite. We were really looking forward to lunch and a glass of wine. The Tea Gardens Boatshed was buzzing. I almost thought we'd miss out on a table - or at least have to wait. Thankfully, there was a table for two, right on the waterfront on a glorious, Port Stephens' winter's day.Booking ahead might be an idea.Lovely meal, topped off with a chat with a friendly local.

- Friendly waitresses - We opted for the three course meal deal- Had the specials for our main course and they were both scrumptious. - Dessert was a bit too rich with a lot of sweet elements. It needed something more than the sour cherries on the side, to cut through it all. Other than that, we enjoyed it!
