I complained these young staff attitudes were appalling with snide comments. Official complaint made these people should be nowhere near a customer service job. Pub full of the usual waiting for god life wasters. I hope I never encounter these staff again. They need a good kicking into the real world.
What I like about this pub is its wide open appeal. Its open all day serving reasonable quality (for the price) food with a massive array of drinks. On weekend evenings you are likely to have to queue for entry which can be a pain when raining, and the door men from my experience are some of the worst in Taunton (very rude to blokes, yet flirt with the ladies). The bar can also be so so busy which is surprising considering how long it is! There is always a good number of staff serving but its just very busy. The music on weekends is a good mix of modern dance and hits, the dance floor is cleared (its only small) and not very overlooked considering the size of the place. What I like the most is that my parents commonly visit the pub for meal deals (around 7pm week days before its busy) which they enjoy, it caters for so many generations of people thanks to its selection and size. Its a nice pub, just a bit to busy for me to regularly visit.
I've been drinking at the Perkin for 10 years (until today). Tried to get served today was passed over for 3 different customers, when I mentioned this to the person serving he decided to ignore me and carried on serving one of his friends. Unbelievable. I left and won't be going back again. Unprofessional, rude staff there's far better bars in Taunton.
Located on the main strip of Taunton town centre, this pub can get extremely busy during peak times, despite being a large Wetherspoons. Lunchtime is usually manageable in terms of finding a table, but the wait for your reasonably priced food can vary from average to poor. Weekday evenings are not too much of an issue, but Saturdays can be crowded with long queues for both entry and drinks. One positive aspect of The Perkin Warbeck is its music selection, catering to a wide range of preferences. Overall, if you're looking for a lively night out and don't mind the crowds, this is a good choice. However, if you prefer a quieter atmosphere and nicer decor, you may want to consider heading to the Pitcher and Piano around the corner.
