Service was slow, it took 15 minutes for someone to take our order even for drinks and the wine was not nearly cold enough. Caesar salad had far too much dressing on it tho the steak and kidney pie was good. The worst thing was that for the first half an hour we had a fork lift trucking reversing backwards and forwards right outside the doors with the resulting beeping noise and fumes. It meant the doors had to be pulled to on a 26 degree day. I realise this is a working cider maker but maybe suspend such activity between 12 and 2 to spare those paying to eat. We’ll continue to buy the excellent cider but won’t eat there again.
Visited for the cider tour and tasting and really enjoyed it. We had Mike as our guide and he was great, even played us a wassailing song on his accordion! Had a pint in the bar after and visited the shop. All staff really helpful and excellent facilities. Said hi to the friendly donkeys and goats too. Easily accessible by bus from Taunton. Overall, a fab experience.
We visited for breakfast this morning. The last time we visited we were very pleased. This morning we were treated like second class people. We were asked if we wanted breakfast and if not we had to go in to the coffee lounge area. Two of us did want breakfast but then we were asked if we had booked. There were numerous tables free We will not be returning . The older lady who served us was totally rude and not business like
After reading a great review, I decided to treat some friends on our way to Wellington. We were not disappointed. This restaurant served one of the best breakfasts I have ever had, with top-notch produce and skillful cooking. The ambiance was lovely and the staff were friendly and helpful, a true asset. I will definitely be returning.
The staff were lovely and very polite. We should have complained , but didn’t want the waiting staff to get the blame . We waited 40 mins for a drink and an hour for our food . If you take a drinks order when you seat your customers , they will enjoy relaxing and going through the menu . If you leave the customer alone for 40 mins without even coming back to the table , the customer is already grumpy . Not a good start !! The soup was watery, with little flavour and substance to it . The charcuterie board was mostly bread . Very unimaginative . A tiny shaving of parmesan and very few meats, and a tiny bowl of olives . The roast beef sandwich was very overcooked grey beef with hardly any horseradish, on a sliced whole meal loaf . Not worth the money paid The shop looks fabulous , and sells beautiful food. Very disappointing that the restaurant doesn’t do the same.
