With 7 people working the small bar, you do not expect to wait for over 30 mins to be served. I was spoken to quite rudely by staff. We gave up and went elsewhere.

Stayed here whilst visiting the Hay festival. Good location, but that is all it has to offer. Upon arrival, there was no welcome. They couldn’t find our booking. The girl apologised as she was just covering, she was however very polite and friendly. This cannot be classed as a hotel. It is just a few rooms above a substandard pub. Sleeping on the bed was impossible. Each spring in the mattress stuck through so was ridiculously uncomfortable. Even if it wasn’t, the noise from the speakers in the garden with the bass bouncing around the room would keep you up all night. I had to complain at midnight and the turned it down but not off. In the morning no staff were present to let us know about breakfast so we simply just left without any. At £135 a night, I’d expect a lot more than what we good for our money. Only slight good things I can say about this place is the chip shop next door was quite nice, and the girl covering was nice and pleasant. I’ve complained to the hotel, but I’m not surprised that I heard no reply. Avoid.
