Highly recommend to try their rose-flavored latte as well, as its strong aroma will surely mesmerize you. The prices are at the upper-end range, but suit to the classy dining experience it offers.
We tried pasta and were good. The Cempedak cheesecake was wonderful, with a unique taste, after a great cappuccino. The historic building is beautifully restored and is worth visiting.
I love this café. Freshly prepared food. Incredibly good coffee and kids friendly too.. The place's ID was so simple, but so retro and quiet.. Staff are very polite, helpful and always ready to help.. Very recommended place to eat with the family or just to take a quick bite and get a good coffee..
Interesting historically preserved storehouse converted into cafe by owners, the preference of historical culture and values. First and foremost we came here for the tasteful design of this place in Peranakan Style. It is an old storehouse that belonged to one of the tin-mining tyroses, also known as the head of the Ghee Hin Association, called Chung Keng Quee. We accidentally came to the present owner, Mr. Yeap, who spent time in court with us as a narrator for the history of Perak. History aside, this is a beautiful café for friends and family meetings. Chempedak's cheesecake is a must. Price is on the steep side, but worth every penny for the experience and reasonable good food.
To my knowledge the best place of it's sort in Taiping or surrounding area until you get up to Penang. This place though not on the same scale, scope or international as China House in Georgetown has a similar vibe. The fact that it's a bit more real than touristy is one of it's appealing features I think. Coffee was very good, lime cheesecake seems to be the go to cake and I can see why as it's a textbook example. Service was good and it's certainly value for money (they don't take cards FYI) plus during the week there's some lunch deals. Parking was very easy (unlike Georgetown) and it's not too far from the Lake Gardens either. There's also a highchair for those that need will be returning soon!
