However, I was pleasantly surprised by Milky Way of Malate. During a recent lunch outing with friends at this cozy restaurant in McKinley Hill, we tried fried bangus, pinakbet, kare-kare, and lechon kawali. While the fried bangus and lechon kawali were average in taste and presentation, the kare-kare stood out with its tender pork pata, well-cooked tripe, and flavorful shrimp paste. The pinakbet was a favorite, thanks to its perfect balance of alamang and fresh, crisp vegetables. We also enjoyed refreshing drinks made from freshly squeezed dalandan and calamansi juice. The highlight of our meal was the creamy and smooth avocado and ube ice cream, which we paired with cheese ice cream for a delightful combination of flavors. I look forward to returning for another taste of these delicious dishes.
I recently started working in McKinley Hill again and after a long meeting, my boss took us to Milky Way of Malate. We ordered tokwa't baboy, pinakbet, lechon kawali, sinigang na salmon, and dinuguan. The standout dish for me was their dinuguan, which was meaty and not too heavy on the blood. It was soupy and absolutely delicious. The sinigang na salmon was also excellent, with a nice sour taste. Despite waiting over 15 minutes for our food, the wait was worth it. The restaurant is located in Tuscany, a residential condo complex within McKinley Hill. The only downside was that the place felt cramped and being seated outside meant people passing by constantly, which I found uncomfortable. The service was average, although it was difficult to get the bill as the staff seemed preoccupied. Overall, it was a pleasant casual lunch with friends.
