Alpenhotel - Taesch

The hotel is beside the Tourist Information center and across the street from the tram station to Zermatt. The rates were very reasonable, and the breakfasts were very good, featuring local apricot juice and the very unSwiss bacon, along with all the usual Swiss fare, enough to fortify you for a full day of skiing. There are both an outdoor and indoor hot tub and an indoor sauna for apres ski. Highly recommended if you want to escape the exorbitant Zermatt prices.

This is located near Tasch station. It's just 2-3 minutes walk. They serve Italian food all day without break between lunch and dinner. Pizza and Spaghetti are delicious. They are so big for us. The waitress is very kind and polite.

First of all, all of our hotels in Switzerland was smaller than expected, with unfriendly staff. But here everybody is friendly, the room is large, clean and good from every aspect. Breakfast in the price too.

If you're staying in Tasch, you don't really have many choices for restaurants for dinner. We ate here one night and had average food and average service for a way above average price. My calzone was more like melted cheese in a pita pocket than a real calzone. While I wouldn't say the experience was bad, I can't actually recommend it for anything but the convenience.

Excellent location just across the station. Staff was very nice and polite. Rooms very clean, could be slightly bigger but ok. We had a balcony as well with mountain views. Breakfast was above average. The hotel restaurant is really good, very good food, big portions, and one of the cheapest we found in Switzerland. Service was fast and top notch. There's a gym with spa facilities in the basement. The equipment at the gym is a bit old and rusty but those who like to train raw will appreciate it as it's quite a few benches and cables, and dumbells up to 46kg which is really good for hotel standard. In fact I think it serves as a gyn for the locals as well. What they should change are the opening hours (08:00) as it clashes with breakfast time, keeping in mind that while on holiday you wouldn't want to waste half a day for breakfast and training. If only they opened at 6:00 instead, which is possible as it's not attended, just a swipe of a card. Overall this was a very pleasant stay.
