The Pumpertruck Pizza used to be really good, but now it's really rough. Why is it so sweet? It's like it was cooked in maple syrup. space and super rich as well
Good food, in a cool old building. The fish tacos I had lacked in any real taste, but others in my group enjoyed their sandwiches, and the frits were perfect. The TVs were all over the explosion for the Super Bowl, so it was a little unpleasant, but our server was friendly, respectful and polite. We often came here when we lived in Tacoma, and it didn't change much. Another cool place, still good food.
This building has such a potential for a great restaurant, but the service, beer quality and prices have me Blacklisting e9, too many other great options out there these days. You calculated $18 for a burger and have the gall to calculate 25 cents for ketchup (they choose to call it the more trendy name of the diving sauce??? Who does that? The beer tastes like soap, always has. The waiter asked if we wanted something else, and I was hardly halfway through my burger, he couldn't wait to get rid of us on a not so busy Thursday. The old firehouse theme is great, but this is all they have for them.
Ambiance is cool...but! We called in advance to make a reservation because we had a large party. We were told they did not accept reservations. When we arrived there were tables marked as reserved for another party. They charged an extra amount of automatic gratuity even though it was not posted anywhere for anyone to see. The service was not great enough to warrant this.I ordered the Greek Lasagna which was horrible. I sent the initial plate back...it was swimming in a pool of grease and some of the pasta was hard. Almost like they were serving me week old leftovers. I wouldn 't even consider it lasagna since the pasta clearly wasn 't lasagna. They remade it...it was better, but just not a great dish altogether. The salad that came with it wasn 't bad...but tell me why there was a layer of cheese sprinkled on the plate underneath the bed of lettuce, while there was already a layer of cheese on top? As another Yelper had stated--the house-made dressing is BLAND...the one I had tasted like oil. Waitress described it as a creamy Italian, but it did not resemble creamy anything. I stirred it in it 's cup before applying to my salad and it was like pouring on oil with clumps of cheese at the bottom of the cup. I even asked the manager for pepper to try to dress it up a little when he came to tap me on the shoulder to apologize for the lasagna and tell me they were going to remake it. I really wanted to say for them to just take it back and not charge me for it, but I was hungry. There are so many places to eat and gather in Tacoma, let alone Pierce County--this place just really misses the mark. I would say you 're better off sticking to a burger if you 're going to come here. The tap list is not even impressive. Less than mediocre for sure.
