Foz Do Tavora Wine - Tabuaco

This restaurant was recommended to us by our host. The setting is very pretty indeed, at tables outside along the Douro River. However, service took forever, and it was not busy at all!! So long, that a manager? Owner? who was sitting on the deck himself with some friends, got up and started waiting some tables. The menu was very limited. Just a couple of little dishes, and only two entrees. They were out of duck salad, but told us they had a tuna and bean salad. So we each ordered that, with an order of bread and olives (which were delicious , and french fries (good! . We did not drink any wine, because it was during the day. The food took another ten or fifteen minutes to arrive. The salad consisted of mostly black eyed peas, and a few pieces of tuna fish, a little onion. We had some olive oil to pour over. That was it! Oh, and out of the two bathroom stalls, one was out of toilet paper, and the other one did not flush!

Durante uma visita à uma quinta próxima ao restaurante nos foi recomendado a “Foz do Távora” para o almoço. Chegando por lá, nos surpreendemos com a vista do local, é literalmente à beira do rio Douro. A cozinha do restaurante é focada em Tapas, o que é ótimo e combina com o ambiente. Enquanto podemos apreciar a vista, degustamos ótimos vinhos locais e uma comida super saborosa. O atendimento é bom. Recomendo.

We were amazed at the view from the terrace of the restaurant, we arrived and there were few people, great for enjoy the nature and the food. Very pleasant wines from Quinta do Pégo, especially the suggestion they made us, Signature 2014, which accompanied quite well with the caramelized quail.

At this wine bar/shop you are really paying for the view which is great, and for being directly on the river bank. However, be sure that your credit card is no maxed out before pulling in. There is a much better café just along the road, but not directly on the river bank. You pays your money and makes your choice!

The restaurant offers a great balcony over the river with the option of a menu or a tabua de enchidos with a great variety of wines from Pego. The view is just amazing and the staff was very friendly. I would recommend to book in advance.
