Pinxinmaeki - Sysmae

We had lunch at this lovely place. The quality of the food was very good. Decent traditional home-style food. The service was friendly. The restaurant has a beautiful terrace with lake-view. There is a very nice hiking area close by. So, this place is the perfect starting or ending point of a hiking tour.

In the middle of nowhere in Finland, there is a rare and extraordinary place to visit - Pinxinmäki. Located 200 km from Helsinki, 80 km from Lahti, and 6 km from downtown Sysmä, on the banks of the eastern Lake Päijänne, it is the perfect summer destination. With an art exhibition, amazing restaurants, private sauna, a harbor for boats, and stunning Finnish nature, I highly recommend visiting this hidden gem.

This restaurant has definitely improved. The buffet offers delicious salads and condiments, and the chicken is juicy and flavorful. The terrace has a beautiful view of the lake and is quite popular on weekends. The art exhibit may not be worth the extra 5 euros, but the restaurant itself is definitely worth a visit.

We dined at the lunch buffet, but there is also the option to order a la carte. The buffet food was delicious; for 12€ you can eat as much as you want and also enjoy dessert and coffee. The a la carte dishes looked tempting as well. The restaurant was busy with many people, but we didn't have to wait long before we were seated and enjoying our meal.

The service was swift and the burgers were delivered to our table before we could say 'blueberrypie '. The burgers and the accompanying coleslaw were excellent. Too bad it was raining so cannot really comment the view over the lake.
