The Down Under Grill - Syracuse

I've been bouncing into this place a few times per year for about 25 years. I've seen it go through a few owners, countless chefs, servers and menu changes. I can tell you with complete honesty that the overwhelming majority of those 25 years the food was consistently good. However around 22/23 the menu and food quality went to a new level. Seriously it is mind blowing especially when you factor in the price. Very reasonable prices. The service is great , the atmosphere is definitely on par or slightly above average but the food quality to value ratio is off the charts. Their BLT is legit! And if you're lucky enough to catch their salmon topped summer salad, I'd be shocked if it doesn't roll your eyes back! Try a few things here and I promise you will find something you enjoy.

This is our first visit here. When we arrived the hostess asked us if we had reservations as all the tables were reserved. We had no idea that was even an option here, let alone a requirement for this evening. She invited us to sit at the bar since we were there to see the band playing later this evening. Service is very friendly and helpful!!! Our server was helpful in suggesting meals and was available to refill our drinks as needed. Other servers were just as friendly to us, even though they were not serving us. We played a dice game while waiting for the band to start. A gentleman asked us about the game, so we showed him how to play. We did not know this at the time, but this gentleman turned out to be the owner, Travis. His friendliness and kindness is very likely why the rest of the staff is kind and friendly!! The food is good! I ordered the chicken pesto. My companion ordered chicken bowl (a chicken sandwich without the bread . We also enjoyed the buffalo cauliflower bites appetizer. The other patrons were around middle-aged, which we liked, as we are in the same age group. It was not a bunch of rowdy kids , We originally came here to see the band, which was very good! But we 'll be back for the food (and another band? one day soon.

Awesome spot for brews and bar food/snacks! The bar area is popping but if that's not your scene they have a great dining room. They do wings, burgers, and beer awesomely!
