However, the food was quite basic, and I couldn't even finish my meal. I ordered the Loco Jardin (veggie salad), which claimed to be hearty and included all non-meat items available. Unfortunately, what I received was essentially just a plate of shredded iceberg lettuce, sour cream, salsa, and chopped bell peppers—no rice or beans at all. I was really disappointed. It's sitting in our fridge at the moment, and I'm hoping my husband can find a way to use it today.
The chips and salsa served at your table upon arrival are incredible. The salsa is made fresh daily and tastes delightful. We've dined there more than half a dozen times, and every meal has been outstanding. The fajitas come loaded with shrimp, the quesadillas are absolutely scrumptious, and the enchiladas are generous enough to share! The portions are plentiful and the food is consistently delicious. It's a fantastic spot to take family and friends visiting from out of town!
Finding the restaurant can be a bit tricky if you're not familiar with Baldwinsville. There's a decent-sized parking lot situated between The Bville Diner, Dollar General, and San Miguel for reference. To access the restaurant, you’ll need to go down a ramp or some stairs from the parking lot. Inside, the restaurant has maintained the charm of its previous incarnations, offering a spacious layout with plenty of seating. In warmer weather, there’s outdoor seating available by the river. However, we found that our booth was directly beneath the heating and air conditioning vents, causing us to alternate between feeling too hot and too cold as the temperature switched on and off. If you enter and head to the left corner, I would recommend steering clear of that particular table until they can make some adjustments. The standout aspects of our visit were definitely the food and service, both of which were exceptional! Our server was wonderful and took great care of us, even on a busy night. Every dish we ordered was delicious, and everyone left with satisfied appetites. The jalapeño poppers were among the best I’ve ever had, and when it came to the main courses, we either polished off every bite or took home leftovers. We also each ordered our own dessert, and once again, all four of us were very pleased with our choices. If you can't tell where I'm heading with this, it's that you won’t be let down, no matter what you choose. Whether it's the best Mexican food you've ever had is for you to decide, but it was certainly absolutely delicious. I highly recommend San Miguel, and I hope you have a great dining experience when you go!
Welp, what once was a must try (although it's been several years) after not having gone back I decided to see if anything has changed... and yes, things have. Unfortunately they've gotten worse. How does a Mexican restaurant run out of beans? Now staffed by seemingly all white people, the quality of food has gone down and prices are ridiculously high. The 7+ queso is a 2oz cup... and the queso is obviously watered down. With the 40+ double order of fajitas I got 2 container of Let, Toma, Ches, sour crm, guac, that had about a spoonful of each on a bed of wet browning lettuce that was probably prepared 2+ days prior, an extra side of sour cream was like 4-5 overall the 50 double order of chicken peppers and onions was decent amount, impossible to figure out was how the hell you serve it with the 4 (6in) tortillas! 4TOTAL!... they were straight off the grocery store shelf... to say I felt like I wasted my money goes without saying. This place (years ago) was good, now they obviously know the end is coming and considering what their serving, and charging for it shows a sad attempt to basically squeeze every cent out of every fool who walks in the doors. Because why not? Obviously things have changed and when the only thing you care about is making sure your card reader is performing its job, closing down is probably a recurring dream. This place is ripping people off, you can only fake it for so long.
Big portions at reasonable prices! The food was fantastic! Can't wait to go back again, after we finish eating our to go boxes!
