A recent meal, for six of us, was as good as we have come to expect. As Apicius, a first century Roman, stated, We eat with our eyes as well as our mouths. You definitely eat with your eyes at Saint Urban. The dishes are so thoughtfully and expertly plated, that you almost (just almost) feel badly about messing them up. However messing up your plate of food is sooo enjoyable. Their is not another restaurant in Syracuse that can compare. Unique menus combined with top of the line products makes for a meal you will throughly savor. The menu is printed on your placemat and shows the various menus and wine flights. My favorite part of the menu is the spot for your still or sparking water glass (they actually make their sparkling water on the premises). Wine, delivered to your table in graduated cylinders is fun and their various sizes of pours allows you to sample several wines if you choose. Homemade bread, served with unsalted butter is a delicious starter (there is Syracuse Salt Company, sea salt, on the table is needed). Service at Saint Urban is wonderful. The waitstaff is very friendly, well trained and extremely knowledgeable about all menus offered. They are unobtrusive, but make sure you are well taken care of every step of the way. Support staff, performs just as splendidly, your water glass never goes empty, your silverware are replaced as needed, napkins folded when you may leave your table, etc.... Saint Urban is a small restaurant and reservations are necessary. The no frills decor, is simple and unassuming, allowing the food to do all the work. The open kitchen and a few high top tables make it fun to see what is going on behind the scenes, but there are low tops if you prefer. Anna Thomas said, We all eat, and it would be a sad waste of opportunity to eat badly. Dine at Saint Urban and you won 't waste that opportunity.
Everything was amazing especially the food. Just didn’t love the staff coming over every other second to attend to water or something else that can wait. Please also be aware of a credit card fee they stick in your bill. We did not love this strange add on especially after spending so much money, but will still be back (with cash)!
I am a regular at this restaurant, trying each one of their monthly themed menus and wine lists. The space is wonderful intimate enough but not crowded you can have a nice conversation with your companions. Service is some of the best I have seen in the area in decades the attention to detail is worthy of many big city restaurants. I don't eat fish or seafood, and, while the menus are 3, 5 and 7 courses containing both, they can always find an incredible substitute for me. The servers are very knowledgeable about their menu and can answer any question about it. The food is consistently amazing fine dining at its best. I love their soups, which always have interesting textural components to them. My dining partner loves their fish and how it is prepared. Wine pairings are always on point deliciously complementing the food. If you like fine dining and are in the Syracuse area, this is a must visit.
I did a 7 course meal with basic wine pairing. The service was amazing. Every dish and wine was explain about what was in it and what the intent of the dish is. The flavor of the food was great and most dishes had a great balance of flavors.I wish there was more bread severed since the house bread is amazing. Also I wish there was the choice of desert for the 7 course like there is for the 3 and 5 course options.Parking: On side of a busy street. Need to be careful of the signs of where to park. I got a warning from the police as to where I was parking.Wheelchair accessibility: Single level with almost no bumps to get in. The double door way might be tricky but should have plenty of space.
I’ve eaten here several times and always walked away very happy. The seven course tasting menu with wine pairing is one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. In particular, the Colorado lamb with sausage, eggplant, and zucchini was insanely good.
