I do recommend the French onion soup, steak, and brownie which all tasted delicious; however, the short rib with risotto was average: the huge portion was overwhelming and looked like it had just been slopped on my plate with no finesse. The Caesar salad was really quite pitiful for the price: a few salad leaves with barely any sauce. The carrot cake is a ridiculously large portion that easily could feed a family of 4 unfortunately, the taste was just average. The lobster was over cooked and the sides we ordered were just ok. If we return, we will stick to steak and fries to avoid disappointment. Staff were friendly and attentive.
Wildly mediocre! And when you factor in price, sub par! table set with bread plate, but they don 't serve bread Saratoga water served warm, and bottle shaken do it exploded on opening asked for lemon and lime, twice, got only lemon... Twice. heirloom tomatoes were cherry tomatoes classy plastic salt and pepper shakers dirty water in vase for flowers on table asparagus was underdone no half sized portions for solo diners steak was great. carrot cake hint: bigger is not better! Not good. Mediocre establishment. I 'm more than comfortable dumping 200 on a nice meal for myself, but it 's not worth it here. Spend your elsewhere.
Came here for dinner with girlfriend. Food had no flavor and it smelled like a dead mouse where we were sitting. Quality was not acceptable for what is charged.
Always a great night at Prime! A must high end restaurant when in Syracuse.
I'm writing this review because of some of the negative reviews I read after eating here. Yes it's pricey but if you look at the menu before going then you should already know this. My husband and I had reservations for 5:00 to celebrate his birthday. We arrived 15 minutes early but were still greeted by very friendly staff. We were given the choice of sitting at the bar or going right to our table. We went to the table and were given dinner menus as well as drink menus. My husband had a glass of wine and I had water (yes, I'm cheap). Our waitress took our order for appetizers and dinner. My husband had a shrimp cocktail. There were only 3 shrimp but they were jumbo shrimp....and I mean jumbo. While waiting for our dinner, we were brought a basket of three rolls along with a dish of strawberry jam, marmalade, and honey butter. These rolls were piping hot and delicious. The honey butter was homemade and made that day. It also was delicious. My husband chose the marmalade and said it was very tasty. I had a burger and fries. Burger was very big and tasted fine. The fries however were the best I've ever tasted: crunchy on the outside but soft inside. My husband had a steak that came with a corn on the cob and roasted tomato. He enjoyed all of it. He also ordered a side of carrots which were also delicious. For dessert he had the butter cake with ice cream and fresh strawberries. He said the cake was wonderful. I had a 6 layer carrot cake which also was wonderful. (I did take half of it home). Waitress was attentive and friendly. We didn't experience any of the complaints I read about.
