We were completing the Magna Via Francigena from Palermo to Agrigento, and were pre booked to eat at Civiletto without ever having heard of the town or the restaurant. We entered an empty establishment, rather formally furnished old fashioned even. We were looked after by a kindly old gentleman who spoke no English, but was helpful as he could be. About an hour after we sat down, two parents and their child came in and took a table. But... It turned out to be a very fine dining experience. The secondo piatto, especially, remains in my memory. It was a delicious assemblage of pork offerings from sausage to pieces on a skewer. The meat was moist, tender and flavour filled. When we finished we asked to meet the chef to congratulate him and thank him for our meal. All in all a very pleasant surprise!
A very nice surprise for lunch! Great Sicilian menu for all kinds of taste. Adults and kids. As a bonus, the price!
Found this one on Trip Advisor, and eventually found it at top of town (very small windy streets). Went in at lunchtime and booked for 4 people for 8 that evening. Proprietor spoke no English, but we managed in sign language. At 8 turned up and all lights were out, thought it was closed but walked in and he turned them all on. We understood that he was going to serve us his tasting menu, plus local wine. all very good, but the courses (which were not small) kept coming. He stood over us with an english italian dictionary trying to explain what we were eating, which was appreciated, but was rather intrusive after a while. I don 't think they are used to tourists there. In the end, I had to show him my cellphone translator saying 'no more! ', as we couldn 't manage any more. He didn 't seem too pleased about this... however food and wine were very good. Other points we were the only people there which is a little disconcerting and we could have done without the crackly radio music being played all evening (more for his entertainment than ours)
This place is fantastic well worth a visit. Food just did not stop coming the chef is just amazing and the cost was so reasonable felt like we had eaten at a top class resturant without the price tag! Sutera is so very beautiful with lots of historic buildings and the views are like no other. If you get a chance ring the BIG BELL on top of Monte San Paolino it's like being on top of the world! A once in a lifetime experience that you will never forget, you will not be dissapointed! PS remember to take your camera
