Bar area is great with limited seating on bar stalls. Toilets are a little bit of a let down especially the mess on the radiator under under the hand dryer
I have eaten here a few times but lately i am finding the food has gone down in taste and quality. Had the posh bacon and egg sandwich on the weekend was terrible. The bread was stale in texture may be sat under a hot plate too long, bacon was on the fatty side and eggs where metallic tasting to me. For some reason there was a sprig of dill in there which really does not work in terms of flavour. Having said that this a good place for a beer and the staff are always pretty friendly.
Something must be wrong with the chef's personal life recently otherwise there's no valid explanation as food was inedible. All the potato chips were so burnt they were unrecognisable as potatoes. And these were normal HOUSE CHIPS (not even sweet potato, take note of how dark they were in the pic and take reference to the slice of lemon for a colour reference guide). My beef burger was so dry that you can't simply bite through, and the only way was to cut through the patty seperatly WITH FORCE using knife and still the patty would take time to chew through. How would they even have the audacity to serve these up?
When it comes to drinks, they offer Fuller's beer, which is the local brew here. It’s always nice to support local breweries, though the selection might feel limited for some. During my last visit, I found the London Pride to be excellent, and I wish I had ordered it again. I didn't eat on this occasion, but I've heard good things about the food. While I usually enjoy a good pub meal, this one can be a bit hard to pin down in terms of offerings. They do have some fantastic options nearby, particularly the Surbiton Kebabs and fried chicken, which I love not only for the food but also because a few years back they redeveloped the place exactly how it was—maintaining its original charm. As for the station itself, it has more history than the pub. It’s considered one of the best modernist stations in Great Britain, has a Grade II listing, and was built in 1937 by Scottish architect James Robb Scott, who also designed Waterloo and Richmond stations. It could certainly use a good cleaning, but a major renovation is on the horizon, so perhaps they’ll take the time to tidy up. The station has been featured in Harry Potter, too, if that's of interest. Overall, if you find yourself in the area with a bit of time to spare before your train, be sure to pop into the kebab shop, grab a pint, and maybe some wings for the journey. It's a cozy Fuller's pub that fits perfectly into a relaxing pre-train experience.
The staff is extremely helpful, and the decor is fantastic—truly top-notch. The drinks and snacks are of a very high standard. I didn't have a meal, but the menu looked quite impressive. I highly recommend this place!
