Uncle Phil - Sunrise

Uncle Phil's is truly a hidden gem! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the owner displays incredible professionalism. I've dined at many Caribbean restaurants, but this one stands out as the best for oxtails. They were seasoned to perfection, unlike anything I've ever tasted before—so tender and flavorful that even the angels would celebrate each bite. The potato salad was also spot on; I couldn’t get enough! I'm planning to go back this evening to grab another plate. It was just too good to be true—like experiencing pure bliss with every mouthful!

The food here was disappointing at best. Many items, including all the Venezuelan options, were unavailable. The tangy chicken turned out to be just fried chicken with ketchup. While the restaurant has a nice ambiance, with nearly a dozen Jamaican restaurants nearby, Uncle Phil's didn’t offer anything that set it apart. If you're going to serve traditional Jamaican dishes, at least do them justice.

The food was outstanding, generous, and very reasonably priced. The owner made it a point to ask for our names so he could greet us personally, which I believe reflects his commitment to providing a wonderful and welcoming experience. The chef also came out to say hello! She was warm and friendly, and it's clear she cooks with love. I had brown stew chicken with white rice, fried plantains, a salad, and an extra side of potato salad, and it all reminded me of my mom's cooking. It brought back memories of family dinners before I moved away years ago. I can't wait to return and try the fried chicken because it looked just like the way my mom makes it.
