For comparison, we also like Red Hot in Darlington, Ashoka in Seaham and any of the Mumbai chain (Haswell, Hartlepool etc . We go to Tashan for the FOOD. How lovely to be able to have an Indian meal without feeling guilty the curries are healthy, not laden with fat, and none of the starters are greasy. I love the authentic street food options such as sweet potato chaat, and there are a number of more unusual home style dishes including Indian desserts. Depending on how hungry you are and what you fancy you can have a very filling four course set meal (good value early bird available , just a main course, or you can mix and match starters, street food, even fast food (an Indian veggie style burger in a bun with masala chips is a very tasty alternative to a McDonald 's! The Indian breads are light and crisp. Tashan also serve the best mango lassi I have had anywhere really smooth and fruity, served by the glass or in a big jug. Don 't judge this restaurant by the location the food is of a very high standard and nicely presented, the service is friendly and attentive and the atmosphere very relaxed (you don 't need to dress up! . Currently my favourite Indian restaurant! Tashan deserve 5 stars for service, food and value (TripAdvisor button not working to give this rating .
Three of us decided to give Tasha a try. Two of us had been to Delhi in India previously, and the food in this restaurant was truly authentic to the food you get in India. The flavours were distinctive, the quality was high and the choice extensive. Please give this restaurant a try ladies and gents. The guys are working hard to make a success of it. As a post script, I had a delicious cauliflower dish in Delhi that wasn’t on the menu, but the guys said that next time we go we just need to call the day before and request the cauliflower and they would make it especially for us. I call that brilliant service.
Its a lovely nice and family place to go for family and friends dinner out. love the staff very friendly and helpful. tried many different vegetarian dishes and its really super owsome everytime and we just want to keep going back again and again. the chefs add the special indian touch to their dishes and make it super delicious. would definately recommend to all who want to try actual exotic indian food to try this place and you would fall in love with it.
REAL Indian Desi Dilli style food. Quick service with great hospitality! Must try... ! REALLY LOVED the starters .. totally different from the so called other Indian restaurants.... FRESH Chutneys which are very rare to find here in the UK ... keen to go back again with friends and family..
This has to be one of the best Indian restaurants in the north east. I’m often disappointed with Indian restaurants in the uk as you can never differentiate the starters and main courses from one restaurant to another but Tashan exceeded my expectations with each course in both presentation and taste. Will definitely be going out of my way to return as excellent food, service and value for money.
